  1. Still playing this one.
  2. When does a plateau begin to stagnate?
  3. Wicked Dick Polk - Pig Tails!!!
  4. Those Atlantic sides made a Mosaic. Not a bad one!
  5. I concur about the Wein record, which is saturated with personality! Also...having only one Louis Armstrong record should be grounds for extradition to...somewhere... That's your life force right there.

Harmony. It happens in the harmony. He creates totally new shapes in songs with his harmonies.
  7. Montgomery to D-Backs. Did not see that one coming.
  8. Not all jokes work.
  9. I really like Gerald Wilson's writing.
  10. Plush Pup - Like Velvet

One of my favorite creators, period. Harmony as liberation instead of tyranny.
  12. Did you find that one in the want ads?
  13. Nice article. Watkins had the rare distinction of being Mingus' bass player!
  14. I would not automatically assume that the bookie's other clients were all athletes. The potential tentacles of this thing are pretty ugly. Have you ever seen tentacle porn?
  15. And Alan Dawson! Chuck Florence is a pretty interesting case. Lots of influences, but it all comes out in his own voice. He's a Detroiter who gigged with both Mitch Ryder and Jack McDuff before finding his home in Montana. I can recommend this one with confidence. Probably the greatest jazz record ever recorded in Bismark, North Dakota as well! Trust me on this one. Oh yeah, Alan Dawson plays vibes on one cut.
  16. Bob Flatbottle - Walking Upright
  17. This is a pretty good record.
  18. What's the consensus on this one? Essential or just fun? I'm on the fence, and already have had a lot of fun in my life? Or more to the point, how much Hawk is there, and how much Pres?
  19. This bookie guy, when do we find out who his other clients are/were?
  20. I like the cover and the title. If the music follows suit, it should be a good record.
  21. Also, deterioration is not stagnation.
  22. Ah, forgot about that one! Randy Weston was actually "hot" there for a quick minute!
