  1. Yeah, this pne is not at all out of place in the bedroom.... Or any other room for that matter. "Beautiful" pretty much sums it up.

  6. I dunno, man, you can get the LP for 6 bucks on eBay. The music's the same and so are the liner notes. Throw in another 20 cents for a blank CDR and how much ever more you want to spend on photocopying the cover, and that's a pretty good deal in terms of both price and immediate gratification. Plus, you'll have the original original!

  11. I'm pretty much w/Chuck on this, except that I still enjoy the work of the "original" Mothers (up to and including the Burnt Weenie-era large group). But ti seems to me that the inability of that band to break through brought Zappa's cynicism to the fore and that it then became the main element of even his most "serious" work. And that just does not appeal to me. Frustration's a bitch, I know, but...

  16. I grew up in northeast Texas. "Robin Hood" Brians' studio in Tyler ( http://www.robinhoodstudios.com/history.shtml )was home to all sorts of local recording and has achieved a local/regional legend of sorts. The most familiar (relatively speaking) band to record there was Mouse and the Traps ( http://www.cyserv.com/lsbk/projects.html ), which spawned Texas guitar demi-icon Bugs Henderson. But there were scores of otehrs, none of whom I particularly remember off the top of my head.
