  1. I wonder why there weren't more trading of fours with the drummer?

    Franklin Kiermyer

So, is there a story behind this, or does nobody really know what Mr. Kiermyer is up to these days?
  3. See what trouble organized rock 'n roll causes? We'd all be better off if it was eradicated from the face of the Earth.
  4. I am in unequivocal agreement with Mr. Clagwell. That's a great album (cracked, yes, but neverhteless great), and as I remember it, hugely but silently influential. In the early days of the punk/new wave "breakout", I took a "sabbatical" from jazz and explored the exciting new rock music that was being produced. That coincided with a self-taught/inflicted study of various pop production techniques, and that was when I got my Brain Wilson jones (NOT my Brain Jones) underway. I remember when LOVE YOU came out. Bought it the first day, and was TOTALLY fascinated but the hard but ultra-sparse drumming and the in-your-face synth riffs taking the place of guitarage. This was DIFFERENT! All the punk/new wave bands were relying on guitars and/or Farfisas. NOBODY was making pop music that sounded like this. But in the upcoming months, all that would change. Seemed like all of a sudden, a LOT of punk/new wave bands were going for that drum sound and that usage of synths. The album might have sold for squat, and it might have made Brian a laughingstock (again) in the eyes of a lot of the mainstream, but the evidence spoke for itself - somebody was listening.
  5. Oops, too slow.
  6. VSOP actually stands for "Very Special/Superior Old Pale". It's the highest quality of cognac. As such, it's natural that the initials would have been adopted for this use, and a new meaning created to take advantage of the synonymity with quality. Check it out: http://www.cognac-co.com/FAQ.htm

  8. There is more to Lee Hazelwood than a censored Megadeath cover.
  9. Finally got this in yesterday, and listened to over half of it while driving to and from a gig. Sound is fine, and Warne is beautiful. REALLY beautiful. One might even call him courageous. In fact, I think I will.
  10. That's the problem with organized rock 'n roll.
  11. What is this, Beywatch?
  12. You can't take Nancy Sinatra seriously w/o taking Lee Hazelwood seriously, and Lee Hazelwood SHOULD be taken seriously.
  13. Oh, but I DI Dlove this one, although knowing that it was a ballet score helped appreciate some of the more "show" type numbers. There's some GORGEOUS ballads on there, heartbreaking even. I'd like to know what the "theme" of this piece was. BTW - nearly all these albums came with inserts, deluxe inner sleeves, etc. Are Brazillian recordings always afforded such deluxe packaging?
  14. The light bulb can only change if it wants to change.
  15. Actually, I'm glad you told me this before I listened to it. Knowing that it was a "kid's album" beforehand helped me listen accordingly. Not knowing the language, I'd probably have wondered what the hell was going on. As it is, I'm able to dig the concept as much as is possible w/o understanding the lyrics. There's some beautiful group singing on there too! I think I'm going to check out these guys some more if I can find another rummage sale...
  16. Exactly my point. Or a portion of it, anyway.
  17. Nice, but it's no Rachael Ray!
  18. What light bulb?
  19. I stand (sit, actually) corrected! My bad.
  20. Well, maybe I won't. No "maybe" to it, in fact. And the part of the Organissimo community that I feel the closest kinship to is a little bit more multifaceted than that. If I have to refrain from posting something like this because the "burgers and porn" boys have taken over, well....
  21. Ah, but I found this thread through the search function and was not able to ascertain if it was still in "active" staus or not without actually making a post. Or at least that's what I think. Maybe I'm wrong.
  22. And FWIW, the original intent of this thread was not to single out Ms. Ray's anatomy (you'll note that the omission of a photo in the opening post was noted quite clearly), but instead to focus on the allure that she creates through body language, facial expressions, and overall attitude. The "usual suspects" will get my attention, but it takes a lot more than that to capture my imagination. It takes personality - that combination of knowledge, curiosity, humor, confidence, sexual awareness, and overall "joy of living" that we all possess in differing quantities and proportions. Ms. Ray is by no means unattractive, but the world is full of not unattractive women. It is not her appearance but her personality, her personal charisma that attracts me to watch her shows. If that makes me simple-minded, so be it, but I have to ask - if a man is not supposed to be feel (not "act out", mind you) something about physical attractiveness in a woman, and if a man is not supposed to be intrigued by the personality of a woman, what the hell IS a man supposed to be moved by? I find Rachael Ray's personality (and the way she expresses it on her shows) intriguing. She's not the only woman I feel that from, nor is hers the only personality type that does that to me. And - I've been deliriously monogamous (ok, sometimes simply delirious, but I've given as well as I've gotten in that regard) for over 20 years, so it's not like I'm the president of the "I Want A Date With Rachael Ray Even Though I Know It'll Never Happen Club". Get real. In a broadcast landscape filled with silicone bimbosity, pestilent perkiness, and shameless sluttery, Rachael Ray stands out as a female television personality who actually seems like an interesting person. I was in the mood to say that, so I did. There it is if you like it, there it is if you don't like it. I take no responsibility for what others have posted in this thread, but damn if I feel like I have to apologize for starting it.
  23. No, really!
  24. Just checking to see if this thread had been deleted or not.
