  1. And of the resultant belches as well!
  2. It's all over the place in the DFW area. Maybe not widely available except on a regional basis?
  3. Now THAT was a guy who was really off into some different stuff. His standup was way cool, but his ALBUMS were just plain brilliant. VERY "conceptual" and adventurous. Check out his Columbia albums, if you can find them.
  4. You talking about the Steely Dan thing?

    Herbie Nichols

Monk was older, and was already playing. Nichols heard him and was mightily impressed from the beginning (one of the earliest mentions of Monk in print is a Nichols-penned article), so whatever influence there was would have been of Monk on Herbie.
  6. Although this is most likely not a soda-pop crowd, has anybody tried the new Fanta apple soda? It SMELLS like real apples when you pop the top, and it's got the crisp tartness of whatever those apples are that are supposed to be green when you eat them. It's almost like carbonated cider! I remember an apple soda from when I was a kid (Apple Beer. or something like that), and Jalisco has long made an apple soda for the Hispanic market (as well as a tamarind one that is damn near addictive), but this is the first "mainstream" attempt at this flavor that I can remember in quite a while. I usually associate Fanta with hack work, but this one's a winner.
  7. I just remember Sam Levinson from his game show panel appearances, but Myron Cohen was on the Sullivan show often enough that I definitely remember him, and fondly too.
  8. I found it, and still find it, a superb experience.
  9. That's a trip. Don't let them get off w/o doing the right thing.
  10. Elaine Joyce's true babeosity is not well-served by still photography, I fear. She was BUBBLY!
  11. Oh, don't get me wrong - George Wallace is REAL funny!
  12. Yeah, somebody Ikenberry or something. But that other guy I don't think I've ever even seen before, unless that's not a good picture or something.
  13. Him I don't recognize. I noticed him initially on the original (1979) version of a show called "Make Me Laugh" (hosted by the legendary Bobby Van... who was married to the even more legendary Elaine Joyce)........ Hey - Elaine Joyce was a BABE! So, who is that guy?
  14. Whatever happened to Stanley Myron Handleman?
  15. Although I'm as bummed about the Gilmore business as anybody, Dan has a good point - if you don't already have this album in some form or fashion, it would not necessarily be wise to pass it by. It doesn't exactly suck, if you know what I mean.
  16. My experience was that they cleared up a LOT of the problem on the CD. The Japanese LP version was really wierd - sounded like the drummer was playing straight eighth notes throughout or some such.
  17. However, it IS providing honest fodder to increase the post count!
  18. That's one fucked up list. The more I read it, the more pissed I get.
  19. George Wallace but not Nipsey Russell?
  20. Now THAT was a guy who was really off into some different stuff. His standup was way cool, but his ALBUMS were just plain brilliant. VERY "conceptual" and adventurous.
  21. How come Minnie Pearl's not on this list and Jeff Foxworthy is?
  22. Lenny's funny stuff is on the Fantasy albums.
