  2. That's pretty much true, objectively, but I DON'T CARE! In the words of the Prophets Mickey & Sylvia, "Love is strange".
  3. Shelly Manne, James Moody, Frank Morgan...
  4. Another side note of trivial interest - one of Gary Giddings' first "Weather Bird" columns (in Down Beat in the very early 1970s) was a loving tribute to Booker Ervin.
  5. But wait! There's more!
  6. The Austin Tower was my first exposure to grey-market CDs, early 90s, immediately after shaking hands with Demon Digital. Talk about opening a Pandora's Box...
  7. The middle one of course; how else could you drive? With my feet. DUH!
  8. Look at how many great jazz players' last name begin with M. In my collection, the biggest single artists areas are for Davis, Ellington, Parker, Rollins, & Coltrane, but the biggest single letter section by far is M, #13 of 26, smack dab in the middle. M is for Monk/Mingus, that's good enough for me. But there's SO much more! Go ahead - go to any record store w/even a halfass jazz selection and see where the highest concentration of worthy artists is - it's under M. See if that holds true in your own collection as well. M

  14. And because Barron's quirky compositions bring the "Trance"-like qualities of Booker's playing to the fore.
  15. And because it's some of the very best Booker on record.
  16. Didn't he look about 40? Yeah, I thought back then that something was weird about a seemingly middle-aged brother pimping white haircut bands, but in this business...
  17. Watersports are deeply personal and have no place being sensationalized on airlines.
  18. We'll have to find him before...
  19. The house should have procedures in place to deal with things like this.
  20. ...which is usually what happens when a degree of seperation between the natural & the intellectial is imposed...
  21. So, like he was already almost 40 when MTV started up? Wow...
  22. Specifically what items are you looking for?
  23. Can't comment on the CDs - I just have BYG & Affinity LPs from a few years back. But the music is essential, so get it whatever way works for you.
  24. I'd have to find it before I could overlook it...
