  1. No need to encourage the morning, it will be here soon enough, on its own time and at its own pace.

  3. Miss Traci Deek - Chester's My Besters!!!
  4. Even in classical reviews, which far too often resemble judges sheets at a UIL contest than they do any real engagement with the greater impact of a performance. Perhaps too much "music knowledge" and not enough musical knowledge? I get that it can be a fine line, but in a town with so much soulful music, there's a dispiriting lack of soulful awareness of same.
  5. Boxcutter McGrew & The Odd Jobs - Tuesday Afternoon at The Broken Bottle Inn!!!
  6. That's a drag. RIP.
  7. The Kids Who Never Sleep - Please Feel Better Soon, Planet Earth!!!!
  8. and that's a VERY good/presented/curated/whatever set of performances...I bought it more out of obligation but had more than a little Jaco-phobia about it. Turns out to have been altogether unfounded. What's in here is top-shelf (or higher!!!). If anybody's still in the same boat, carpe diem!
  9. It's a cycle, really. Should have been a two-record set, but the record company was looking to maximize profit in the wake of the hit single Why Did I Get There? which really got the whole thing going. Maybe some day all the records will be put together rightly.
  10. Yeah, you can smell the factory, BFD. AFAIC, if you don't know Ruth Brown, your knowledge of American music has a gap that should be filled. so why wait? Check out some Ruth Brown today!
  11. That was a good band.
  12. Gupi Allegrante (TV's "Uncle Popper" - 15 Songs About Hygiene For Kids Who Like To Get Dirty Side 1 is "Uncle Popper", but Side 2 is Gupi all the way.
  13. I also recognize Dan Barrett, Rebecca Kilgore, Johnny Varro, and Brian Piper. Sounds like a very "mainstream" oriented thing. I like this: Will there be an opportunity to meet the Jazz musicians? You bet! In fact, they will be happy to autograph your program and, if you’re lucky, you might even have several of them sit at your table between sets! The atmosphere is open and friendly...conversations and photos between sets are highly encouraged. IF you're lucky...you can talk to the animals. AND take pictures of them!
  14. Dare I say "dour"?
  15. It is, a Japanese variant...and both seem to come through Interplay some how...bottom line, it was a Danish Radio broadcast. Interesting to hear Warne with such an aggressive drummer. Doesn't seem to bother him at all.
  16. The Tex Dunker Rainbow - Saddles Always Optional
  17. Drat Pubb - Forgot to Stay
