  2. Paul LaFaro, hands down.
  3. 5 LPs + various printed materials all in a thick bigass box. HPB wanted just five bucks for it, and hell yeah, five bucks is a Instabuy price for me for something like this. I thought it would be good for a laugh or a lot of laughs, but I've yet to be able to muster the courage to do anything with it but move it to the back of the backroom, so who's laughing now, eh? Sure as fuck isn't me.
  4. Clay was a know squeaker pretty much all of his career. Didn't seem to bother him, so hey. After a while it just got to be part of his sound.
  5. was he able to assure you that your order wouldn't be double-filled?

It's been on YouTube in the past. Maybe taken down at some point.

I like the set with the giant sunglasses as backdrop. I wish I could find a pair that big for real life. People would ask me where you get that shit, and I would tell them that all it takes is a 3D printer, a Ray Charles movie, and a little skill that somebody else has.
  8. I'm finding that the Bley/Swallow/Sheppard trio recordings are holding up quite well to a deeper scrutiny. Noting overtly flashy, but the insides are, like, structural steel.
  9. Indeed it is. If I had a boat and an ocean or whatever it is and if it was night, I would go there right now and take this along. As it is, all I can do is take this along to right here right now, and that's good too. Better, probably.

  11. not yet, but it's early still.
  12. Then preordering makes no sense to me, not if a preorder becomes a reorder. Kinda defeats the purpose for everybody.
  13. Both are good, if not great. I prefer the one with Motian, it's better recorded and a more focused presentation. But both are worth checking out, and on the other one you get the surely unique experience of Gary Valente doing his thing, and then hearing Dewey doing a totally lovely rendition of Star-Crossed Lovers. Hardly life-changing experiences, but life-enriching nevertheless.
  14. not if the CC from the first one has timed out for 30+ days after submission, I hope? This doesn't seem normal, does it? What's the purpose of preordering at the earliest-ish opportunity, with a card on file, and then have to re-place the order because you pre-ordered too soon?
  15. Ok, I just re-ordered....when does my previous order come off my dashboard?
  16. Daddy Deluxe - Takin' The Plush
  17. It's a worrisome thing.
  18. Decoy was a much more interesting album than might be remembered. That full Montreal concert interests me. Unissued studio material, probably not so much, unless maybe they have some un-Teo-ed stuff from Star People so we can contrast and compare. But I like Teo-ing, so the bar is high
  19. Jeez. I knew it was a lot, but not that many! I do like me some Schubert lieder but have always been intimidated by where to make serious start. I end up getting a Fischer-Dieskau record here and there, but that the way of a dabbler... which I suppose is what i
  20. I knew Roswell Rudd did that circuit, but not Grachan!
  21. Not a lot of footage to determine one way or the other...
