    Ricky Ford

His records since leaving America have been uniformly outstanding and devastatingly intense.
  2. Ah, found it: https://www.discogs.com/Lloyd-McNeill-Tori/release/1439701
  3. Not Adele Sebastian, the cuts too long.
  4. No ideas who the solo pianist is on "Tempis Fugit" but I like it quite a lot. It's got a nice brooding quality that's halfway between Tristano and Bud Powell. Very engaging to these ears.
  5. In more ways than one...I like it a lot, whatever it is.
  6. and one thing on there sounds like Trudy Pitts and Pat Martino, definitely a period Prestige sound. Don't know the record, though, at least not on blind hearing.
  7. Ok, dammit, found it: https://www.discogs.com/Sangoma-Everett-Chico-Freeman-Mal-Waldron-Cecil-McBee-The-Courage-To-Listen-To-Your-Heart/release/9680455 Chico Freeman, there ya' go. David Murray syndrome, 8th note phrasing gets weird, and the tone is not consistent. When it's all good, it's all good. But it's not always all good.
  8. Ok, I give up then!
  9. Glad it's not Nathan Davis, he's one of those guys who only really swings at double-or-up tempos....nothing wrong with that, necessarily, but I've not known Nathan Davis to have been one of those type players. so...back to alternating between Google and work IMs... Ok, let's try this one: https://www.discogs.com/ja/Klaus-Weiss-Quintet-On-Tour/release/10085461 The thing about it is that Mal Waldron is unmistakable, everybody else....not so much.
  10. With Nathan Davis?
  11. With Ray Barretto!
  12. Art Webb?
  13. Some people do their best work away from their office!
  14. It might be one of those things that the meaning changes as time passes? I'd like to see that thing where Chuck D does the album. I like Chuck D pretty much.
  15. We have a fine crew here, drivers, counter clerks, everybody, sorry to hear not everybody does. It's to be expected, I suppose. Like any other organization, I would wager that it filters down from the top.
  16. Gender is not relevant. Lameness is. Refusal to leave a truck to ensure safe delivery with no perceived/expressed/documented safety concern is lame, as is a supervisory refusal to clear up the perception/issue.
  17. Give the flowers to the living.
  18. uh-oh...
  19. That last one is Hubert Laws & Ron Carter (dive-bombing!) but I'll be damned if I can remember what record that is.
  20. KB/Big-band, not Verve, is that the Richard Evans thing on Cadet? Just guessing.
  21. Timmy! I love that song. Still, maybe more than ever.
  22. the one that's JR Monterose instead?
  23. Mal Waldron? Unmistakably Oliver.
  24. Listening at work as "background. So far, can identify Don Ellis and Joe Harriot records "by ear". Everything crackles, for sure! Shafi Hadi on tenor
