grr, i know i need it....25 bucks tho, grr what kind of back ended deal did trip score w/ mercury....was it that it was the 70s and mercury was more interested in uriah heap and not old 50s jazz so they just said to hell with it and let trp release them? -

hey u guys was just jammin out to my new old 1st pressing of TALKIN ABOUT and in the noted l. feather mentions how larry was giggin around ny with hank, KD, tommy turrentine, and im just thinkin how awesome that would be see a live set of hank + larry on his b3. they only did that one album together, isnt that right, i want to hold your hand. definetly a pop affair. hank n larry live must of aboustely tore it freaking up.

Sonny Rollins Interviews
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to Stonewall15's topic in Offering and Looking For...
the tavis one was good. the other one, is that the one i saw just last night? white dude interviewing him, 1st questinon was about miles? that one sucked. not sonny of course. but man if sonny is really going to be sittin down for some interviews, we need him to be interviewed by someone who can REALLY INTERVIEW him, i mean if hes taking the time to go through with this..... ....of course sonnys impressions of miles davis is interesting and important, but thats like on page 99 of important interview topics with sonny. sonny needs to be interviewed by someone who really loves and respects him. they touched on bird, but that should of been covered more in depth. sonnys musical interactions with bird.... -

Horace Silver - Kind Of Silver
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Discography
what the hell. so they couldnt get the rights to use the original cover photo, they didnt wanna use the band 70s issue painting-cover.....so theyre all: we need to design a new photo, what should we use? and some genius does 5 seconds of lee morgan research, and this is the result -
if so why hasnt he put out a new albu since 1986? dont know much about him, thanks JUST ORDERED '''THE RACER''' his 1986 cd, got a projazz sampler with a track and it was awesome, then heard a song on youtube. had to have the original, its really groovin

for years avoided them. finally got heavy into the 1st album and early early live shows. some of the 70s stuff is decent. cant stand the line: "a man selling ice cream". that line always stuck in my craw. 80s stuff could of been a lot better.

im startin to friggin hate these releases...but on the other hand....is the music getting distributed to people any better now that its all free n easy? im not convicned. see them for regular prices at the one brick n moartar recordstore, is that what you call them. when i see them for .99 cents at safeway at the checkout aisle, i will be impressed. 1st thing i notice is, whats up with the old "compact disc" logo like that in the upper left corner? looks so like a 1983 CD, i like it! how are these things mastered. are they seriously ripping a cd of the stuff to use as their master. or is it more complex than that on any level. i actually am all for it, in this day n age its hard to collect all those albums. if this helps young kids learn about horace, im all for it. you cant go one by one anymore. takes too long to aquire em all. this set is good if it spreads the word easier. but it needs to be available in different places, not just the dead old lp store. it needs to be, as i said in supermarket checkout aisles with the packs of gum. not is not degrading it. its like oh , lets pick up a pack of gum, and this horace silver cd. -

what is a Blue Note King/Japan lp
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Discography
brownie i like how you answered by question by releating my question directly to how Hank Mobley is affected by the answer to my question -
ive been seeing and passing on a lot of these lately. i dont own one. with the liberty stuff, at least i know the lineage, KIND OF. but where do these toshiba/emi "king" lps come into play. when are they from. HOW ARE THEY MADE. are the actual masters sent to japan for mastering or what is known about the origin of these lps. ive heard there supposed to sound good. so do they come from original master tapes. did they really let japan borrow those over the years? i know nothing about these releases, what is the origin of the transfer. i cant immagine anyone attempted to ship a blue note master tape in a box to japan. how are these done?
