  1. A lot of his best music, with the trio, pre-dates the LP era. If you are looking for LPs, I would recommend After Midnight and Nat King Cole Sings/George Shearing Plays, for starters.
  2. And Ron Della Chiesa, who invited Ms. TTK and I into the studio when he interviewed Keely Smith!
  3. The album was on in the background. The charts were certainly not striking in the way that The Black Dahlia is. They sounded like tasteful backings with nice harmonies, nothing that sounded dated on the one hand nor particularly adventurous or groundbreaking on the other. Again, this is based on one listen in the background.
  4. So I just re-listened to this album for the first time since getting the promo ages ago. I realize now that I hung onto it primarily because of Bob Belden's involvement, but I'd forgotten that he was part of the album when I posted about it in March. Anyway, I thought it was a pleasant "with strings" album, the kind of thing I like to have on in the background while I'm working. Belden's arrangements seemed nice but they didn't particularly grab me. And yes, I picked up on the Pepper Adams thing. Overall, worth keeping.
  5. Well, that's better than misfiling the entire truck! Ha ha! No rhyme or reason to office filing. Discs scattered in various drawers and cabinets. That was my main interest.
  6. Thanks, this is helpful.
  7. Finally found it in a box of CDs at my office. Thank you!
  8. Dan, sorry for all the stress and the expense, but I'm glad that you and your family - both human and animal family - are OK. Yes, we lucked out again, but our luck sadly means that someone else got it worse.
  9. Good to know, thanks. And I misunderstood, when you quoted the catalog number, I thought you meant a different release that I didn't know about.
  10. Yes, I have seen the record cover. So are my only CD options an overpriced Japanese CD that I will never find, or that twofer that was mentioned? Or, I can find the LP and digitize it myself.
  11. May I ask what CD this is and which label released it?
  12. Thanks. How is the audio? Does it sound like a vinyl rip?
  13. Is it true that the only CD reissues of this Dot LP were Japanese? Were they from the master tapes? I'm assuming that the masters were lost in the Universal fire?
  14. Thanks all. Hope Dan is OK!
  15. Our power came back at around noon. Now I have to clean up this mess!
  16. We are among 10% locally without power. Most of our neighborhood got it back yesterday evening. It is very cool - something I never experienced after a hurricane - so doors are open and it is very comfortable. Hoping we get power back today.
  17. Parts of our backyard fence, technically our neighbor's, came down. Otherwise, all is well here. Branches and twigs scattered, nothing major. Still without power, though. Part of a tree down the street came down. It apparently fell in the road and a work crew moved it back into the yard. Keeping my phone off to save power. Hope everyone else is well!
  18. It is 3:22 PM in Tampa. Winds and rain are picking up. We are getting intermittent power outages, so I am posting this now.
  19. Things are still pretty quiet here. We still have power.
  20. Well, we dragged everything in from the yard and patio, and we we have plenty of bottled water and cat food. We're supposed to get hit in about 8 hours. I'll keep you posted.
