  1. A six-CD set in a metal box a little smaller than a lunch box, with a fold-out accordion digipack monstrosity holding the disc. Hideous illustrations, bulky design. Not sure when it came out or if there is a better one now. I found it sealed on-line some time ago for a cheap price.
  2. I am listening now to this box set. From both the visual aesthetic and structural standpoints, this has to be the most diabolical box set I have ever held in my hands. Great music though.
  3. I have passed up the Columbia album with Previn too many times. I need to find it.
  4. I had no idea it had been unavailable. Is TNT out?
  5. I wasn't lucky enough to get the Clash as opening act at the show I saw. The only memorable part of the evening was when they did "Tattoo" from "Sell Out." Audience response was tepid, predictably.
  6. I saw the Who on the very first farewell tour, circa 1982 or 83. They've been saying farewell for the past 25+ years but refuse to go away. I thought Roger looked and sounded better than I would have expected. Pete looked like someone's drunken grandfather doing Karaoke. He probably is someone's drunken grandfather doing Karaoke. So much for his attempt to re-invent himself as tweed-wearing author/publisher in the 1980s. I couldn't help but wonder how the Super Bowl crowd would have reacted if they went out and did "A Quick One" and then left the stage. Did I see Simon or one of Pete's younger brothers playing in the band?
  7. Quartette Tres Bien - Boss Tres Bien - Decca (rainbow, mono) These guys made a zillion albums for Decca but they rarely pop up used, in my experience. Not sure if that's reflective of the number of LPs that were pressed, or the unwillingness of the original owners to let go of those LPs.
  8. Clark Terry - Serenade to the Bus Seat - Riverside (OJC reissue, mono)
  9. John Hawksworth - The Penthouse OST - UA (black label, stereo)
  10. He wrote the FIRST Avengers Theme. The more famous theme was composed by Laurie Johnson.
  11. Feel free to move on. I'm not ready to. You have other threads to ignore.
  12. Herbie Mann - The Wailing Dervishes - Atlantic (blue and green label, stereo)
  13. Agreed, but there were a couple of bully participants that added to the bad vibes.
  14. Various - Bombay the Hard Way: Guns, Cars and Sitars
  15. Gato Barbieri - Bolivia - Flying Dutchman (white label promo) with Lonnie Liston Smith
  16. John Dankworth - Modesty Blaise OST - 20th Centurey Fox (black and gold, mono). RIP JD.
  17. One of my heroes. I will have to spin Zodiac or Modesty Blaise or something.
  18. McCoy Tyner - Time for Tyner - Blue Note (blue and white label, stereo)
  19. Nat Adderley - Sayin' Somethin' - Atlantic (green & blue label, stereo)
  20. George Duning - Picnic OST - Decca (black label, stereo) Such poignant, bittersweet music.
  21. Music, furniture, design and style allow for the creation of one's own environment. That's what some of us do. You forgot to mention drugs, drugs will make the whole process an awful lot easier. :g Wine is my drug of choice. Yes, I forgot to mention that.
  22. No, it's just that this gang is a hell of a lot nicer, more open-minded, and more tolerant.
  23. Music, furniture, design and style allow for the creation of one's own environment. That's what some of us do.
  24. Ha ha - that happened YEARS ago with the gutless management endorsement of a select few trolls and bullies. AMEN Bro. I took a one-way ticket out of there years ago.
  25. And the "future" that was imagined between the 1950s and 1970s is about 10,000 times better than the future we got. I'd rather listen to an early 70s version of the future than the millennial pop crap that was around (electronic music notwithstanding). I LIVE for albums like this. You can have the real future, I'll take the fake one. In fairness, Gil Melle made another good album too, called "Tome VI." He also designed some futuristic looking record covers, which, again, look better than the future we got.
