  1. That's wishful thinking by New Yorkers. Cleveland will surely sign him to a long-term max contract once he becomes a restricted free agent at the end of next year. Guy
  2. The weather.com forecast usually includes an hourly probability of rain, 0%, 10%, 20% etc. My question is whether this probability is hourly only. So for example, if for each hour for the next 3 hrs it says "20% probability of rain" does that imply that the probability for rain sometime over the next three hours is 48.8%? (1 - [0.8*0.8*0.8]) Or is that just short hand for "20% probability of rain for the next few hours"? Guy
  3. He's still one of the 2 or 3 best coaches in the NBA, ergo great. Probably even good enough to take a shitty team like the Knicks to the playoffs. Guy
  4. I just read the article -- it looks like only half of the engagement is being issued, and the best performance ("Creation") is not going to be included. It won't include a great performance of "Impressions" either. Verve, you suck!
  5. No, you are right. I think the only tune on the Laserlight from 1965 is "Song of Praise". (And stupidly, the same track appears twice on that CD, once under the name "Brazilia".) I'm not sure how they will be able to fit all four Half Note dates on two CDs -- it'd be a shame if they omitted anything. Guy
  6. Tubular Bells sucks! Hopefully this album is better... Guy
  7. Parts of it have been available on a semi-legit (ie find it at Tower) Laserlight reissue, but I imagine this one will be with much better sound. The music is incredible. Guy
  8. Eicher always admitted he got the trio record with Peacock from Bley as it was issued, as an album ready for release, produced by Bley himself. The sessions for this overlap with others IIRC. ← Is the Bley with Peacock album a reissue of the Savoy sessions? Guy
  9. I've bought KoB only once (the 96 version) and Giant Steps twice (the original CD issue, then the deluxe edition). The only CD I've acquired more than twice is IaSW -- the original CD version, the box set, then the remaster. Guy
  10. I read in a Time magazine article that this joke was told by Abraham Lincoln:
  11. Don't Downtown Music Gallery and Omnitone stock them as well? Guy
  12. Anybody want to take up the "A Love Supreme is overrated" claim? Guy
  13. Sand tablets are more expensive than they used to be... Guy
  14. I just bought 97 cent ear bud headphones for use at the gym. Sound isn't great, but not really necessary. If they last for at least a month then they'll turn out to have been a great investment and I'll buy another set as a replacement. Guy
  15. Booby is on this one too. Guy

    Evan Parker

Is this in print? What does it sound like? Guy
  17. $10.50 a disc doesn't sound that steep to me. ← Relative to $5.50 a disc... Guy
  18. I think Universal only owns the distribution rights, not the catalog itself. Guy
  19. Nobody except Wade. Aside from him, Shaq and Eddie Jones, the Heat suck. Guy
  20. The Heat might need a center. I don't think Shaq's body can handle a full season + title run anymore, and it's only going to get worse. Guy
  21. Not sure if they changed their packaging since I got my copy of Horace Tapscott's Dark Tree. That was annoying but completely user-friendly in comparison to W&W. Guy
  22. And yet I like it better than some of the more straight-ahead GG dates from the early 60s -- Green Street and the Sonny Clark Quartets. Some of the solos have a quiet intensity to them. Agreed that given the personnel, the record could have been better. Definitely a great record, but not sure why you say it is undersung. It's routinely mentioned as one of the greatest BN albums, and Grant's best. Guy
  23. Hmmm... thanks for the rec but it's a bit pricy at $95... Guy
  24. Some of the compositions are intriguing as well. Guy
  25. Digipaks are bad enough, but the contraption that W&W issues their CDs in is a monstrosity. Who the hell came up with the cardboard idea? Record labels, please, there's this amazing invention called the jewel box -- please use it! Guy
