  1. Grumiaux never disappoints ! Nice set.
  2. I see what you mean, ... considering Grapes of Wrath
  3. I understand that the subject of the book is a weigthy one. 'Steinbeck' keeps on repeating the same message over and over again after a while. That's what i meant with not enough substance. I did like East of eden !
  4. Disappointed in this book. Way to slowwww for me, not enough substance.
  5. yes ... she has the right things going on
  6. Thanks for your honest comments. I certainly going to listen to the symphony you advised me to listen to. 'Goatman' is a character from a Folklore-story from England (some say United States wich is incorrect i believe, not sure) and refers to the Devil himself. An unexpected guest appears at a desolate old building. Someone drops something, tries to grap it from the ground under the table and sees the guest has no feed but hooves. I believe bad things happen afterwards. The story escalated to all sorts of substories.
  7. ahh ... Clara Haskil/Ferenc Fricsay giving a nice Mozart experience. Classic stuff. Bye the way for some reason Ferenc Fricsay delivers most of the time a majestic performance (for me). And yes, Haskil has probably a proper connection with mister goatman himself !
  8. ... and what leads to make you enjoy his compositions if i may ask so ? Is there any spiritualism ? Any passages you recommend me to listen to for clear impressions ?
  9. Oistrach/Ormandy, for the cutting tension !
  10. Interesting and if so for what reason/reasons ... ?! I only heard the first symphony on Youtube.
  11. Over the Hills and far away * Sleigh Ride * Brigh fair * Florida Suite * Marche Capriccio
  12. Just started reading Tsjechov, still a lot to discover ... Now reading Tsjechov's early period. Nice picture !
