  1. Well, all I know is I got a slight chill when I saw that this morning. And I wasn't nearly as close to Bill as many others here.
  2. That's a fair point, Paul. My only thought would be that it's impossible to ignore that life can be messy, IMO, but what Bill participated in was lightyears beyond "messy". I also think it's different when it's someone you considered a friend.
  3. I'll second that. It's bad enough what people went through. We certainly don't need an annual reminder...
  4. Crap...I hate the high road...
  5. Well, I only saw Chris' initial post which was pretty mild. So I offer a full and sincere apology to Jim. I stuck my foot in my mouth not having all the info. That one is completely on me.
  6. As long as we all forget our old history, or the fact that we ever met before, all should be Orwell. I mean well...
  7. For christ's sake, Jim. Unless Stanley Crouch is a poster here, no 'wars were brought to bear'. Though it is becoming clear why folks like Johnny E and Chris A don't really post here anymore.
  8. We promise to eventually become civilized! *fart*
  9. Good lord! Al, been a long, long time! What's happening, brother?
  10. Yeah, Steve!! Stop being so extensive and dramatic. OK, maybe the extensive thing is a bit harsh.
  11. It's a sterilization, J.A.W. That's all I was noting. Keeping things from getting nasty between posters is one thing, but deleting a post that simply referred to an event from 5 or so years ago, with no other intent than using it to make a quick point seems overbearing.
  12. You removed Chris' post just because he mentioned the Stanley Crouch dustup? With all due respect, this place is becoming a little more like the Steve Hoffman forums by the day.
  13. Women And Children First was better, but Fair Warning was quite good.
  14. No, he is (THElil)! Not to be confused with just any ol' cheap impostor. He is THE cheapest of impostors. A little respect is in order, my friend. BTW, CJ. Do you have any of Jazzooo's material? If you don't have a copy of Two Days in November, I cannot recommend it highly enough!
  15. A snapshot of the entire web?! Good lord! I wasn't even aware that was possible.
  16. Lois has stated that none of it will be archived, so as of July 1 every last word there goes bye bye forever.
  17. I'm steadfastly refusing to move over here.
  18. Maxell XLII was my go to blank tape. Those actually did sound pretty decent. I used to get that squeal you're talking about. It always came from the tape spindle, but never from the tape itself.
  19. Yeah, I guess we are talking a society that flocks to Apple stores almost twice a year for the "latest and greatest" iteration of the iPhone... I'm seeing zero use for it, personally. The only game I even use my PS3 for on a regular basis is Gran Turismo 5 because it's part of my driving simulator. Got last year's Madden. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Played through a full season of it, and haven't touched it since. I think my biggest gripe is that gaming simply hasn't evolved in over a decade. The recent Bioshock Infinite was amazing because of the story and themes, but at it's heart it was still just a regular ol' shooter. Glad they showed how engaging, complex, and deep story telling can be, but... The mindless quarter eaters I grew up with were far more engaging than pretty much everything out there today.
  20. I'm not entirely convinced of that. The PS2 only dropped $20 when the PS3 was released, and it took another three years before they dropped it down $30 more. Have you read up on the PS4 at all? Man, I'm wondering what they're actually selling point is going to be? I certainly can't see the use for one at this point. I'm wondering if Sony is regretting the "it does everything" tagline for the PS3. Because essentially, it does. And I wouldn't be surprised to see lower than projected sales of the PS4 because of it.
