  1. Only the first gen models had the noise problem. Mine is relatively quiet. During silent parts of movies you can't hear it.
  2. Very little of what you buy on the street is grown indoors. Most of it comes up from Mexico, or from the tropics.
  3. The Sony PS3 is one of the best Blu-ray players on the market. May be a little more than you want to spend, but if you have Wi-Fi in your home it also becomes a pretty impressive multi-media machine. Especially if you use things like Netflix, Amazon On Demand, etc... Not sure it's region free, though...
  4. Yeah, if cassettes were ever considered audiophile quality I must have slept through that era.
  5. Yep. They even sold stuff in Florida called Paraquat. It was essentially high powered skunk. *ahem* At least that's what others told me...
  6. You're pretty much ingesting insecticide nearly every time you put something in your mouth.
  7. Diz (in the background) approves.
  8. http://www.miamiherald.com/2009/09/20/1223091_why-men-cant-help-it.html Um, yep...
  9. It exists, and it goes by the name of iTunes...
  10. What's next. Shoulder mounted VHS video cameras?!
  11. I don't get the whole "distribution medium" aspect. In this digital age it just seems akin to having a hand crank on the front of your car.
  12. My dog is 112 lbs and his farts sound like human farts. And he always sits down to fart. Not sure if he thinks sitting will hold it in, or whether he's playing the acoustics.
  13. And that's exactly what bugs me: people whining about "modern times" making their lives harder, but refusing to do something about it. Oh, OK. I wasn't getting that from what you were saying before. I've never really met anybody with that mindset, which may have informed my confused conclusion. The folks I know just don't have any use for computers. And they're perfectly content not to.
  14. Well then they're just being stubborn and silly.
  15. But, do they see it as making their lives harder? Some people are perfectly content doing things as they always have. They may not see computers as evil, just as unecessary. I personally appreciate the fact that we live in a society of options.
  16. J.A.W., doesn't is seem somewhat presumptuous to say it's making life harder for them? My father is in his 70's and he has always embraced technology. But I know folks in their 40's and 50's who have no use for computers, and they make due in thier lives just fine. We may be closing in on a tipping point where some kind of computer access is essential, but we're not there yet. The effects they could have on people's lives is still a matter of perception, IMO.
  17. I was hit up in KC once and the guy looked at me and said, "I ain't going to lie to you. I just want to buy something to drink." I at least had to appreciate the honesty.
  18. It used to bug me, but I've become a much more patient person over the years. I still have my limits just like everyone else, but waiting a little longer in line because somebody is writing a check isn't one of them. I note that 95% of the time it is an older person. They're simply going about their everyday life as they have been for longer than I've been alive. They also tend to be the type of people that have chosen to slow down and enjoy life instead of rushing from point A to point B every step of the way. With that said, driving 5mph under the speed limit in front of me still isn't met with that same level of patience. I'm working on it... Oops, you posted this while I was typing. But yes, I agree 100%.
  19. Uh-oh. Does this thread need to be moved to the political forum now?
  20. Hey, I'm an unapolegetic Bruce Hornsby fan. Rocks...glass houses...
  21. I suppose. He just completely lost me when he went the Fusion route. I was listening to that album on Spotify today. Far more acceptable than the awful Bitches Brew...but not by much.
