  1. 80 sets over 3+ decades? Doesn't sound unreasonable at all. 2 to 3 box sets a year? Hell, I amassed what is a grand total of 92 CDs of Coltrane as a leader over the course of about 3 years. And that includes only 3 box sets... Though, OK...the Prestige box accounts for 16 discs. Yeah, that moved me to pull the trigger as well. I wanted the set ever since I read about it in one of my Penguin guides, but for some reason kept putting it off.
  2. How so? They own full rights to that, don't they? It's the only unlimited set they offer.
  3. HA! Well, I'm glad I mentioned the Benedetti box! They must be wondering why the hell they're suddenly having a run on it! That's three orders within the last half hour, and a fourth on the way from Niko some time soon.
  4. Second. Once I learned of the recordings, I immediately wished someone had done the same with Eric Dolphy. I'm looking forward to diving into this set.
  5. The Benedetti box will be my...second. It was simply bad timing on my part. By the time I had discovered Mosaic, I was deep in the heart of my 60's Free Jazz binge. Then by the time I came back around to more traditional Jazz, we were home owners (with a child), and my "fun money" went into hiding. And as you can likely surmise, my only Mosaic is the Sam Rivers Blue Note Sessions.
  6. I'm going to pull the trigger. I wouldn't consider myself a "Bird freak", but I do have several titles including the massive Savoy and Dial box, and love them all. Ultimately, I just feel like the Benedetti box is too important, historically, to pass up.
  7. Ok, serious question in search of a no bullshit answer: is the Benedetti box as fascinating as it seems? I've always kind of wanted it, if for no other reason than the curiosity. Just never brought myself to pull the trigger. What say youse?
  8. Even if there were degradation in the analog to digital transfer, the final product would be the same whether it came from the tape, or a CD.
  9. It will do that as well, but it'll still be in your post. This way gets rid of it before you post. Before I figured out that method, I'd just post the quote box, and then immediately delete the post. This new method helps you cut out those extra steps.
  10. Allen, the quote box glitch here is incredibly annoying, but I figured out how to get rid of it. Simply left click and drag your cursor over it to highlight it, and I mean the entire box, then hit your backspace button. *poof*
  11. YEAH! So all of you folks here need to stop being smart consumers, and simply spend willy nilly so that the rest of us idiots with more money than brains don't suffer! An excellently stupid and insulting post, bigbandrecords!
  12. Oh, for some reason I remembered him actually deleting the post. But you're right, he just edited it. I know on phpBB, and whatever Jazz Corner used to run on you couldn't delete an OP. Only edit it. Hell, on both of those you can even set individual posts to lock after a designated amount of time. So surely this software allows for all of those parameters to be set/changed. But only an admin or software tech would have access to that (as you already stated on the other thread). *edit* vBulletin was the software JC ran on.
  13. Ah, I forgot about that request. It's funny because the change must have been something in a recent update considering Joel Fass, not that many moons ago, deleted his OP on one of his diatribe threads, and the rest of the thread stayed put.
  14. Already being discussed here:
  15. They charged you to send them back? I didn't realize their shipping woes were so extensive, or that they had been going on that long. Perhaps they should consider moving that part of their operation back in house. It's starting to sound like the two are intertwined.
  16. 96, if those are the only two choices.
  17. Errors happen, but an entire week of no shipments? They may want to build some kind of redundancy into their order tracking process. Easy enough fix.
  18. I seriously doubt Mosaic would even entertain the notion of buying the full rights to most of the music they distribute. Doesn't seem as though it would make sense financially.
  19. And his tune, Detroit, is one of the most beautiful Jazz tunes I've heard in recent years.
  20. Wonderful! Thanks for posting this, HBJ!
  21. Sure. Do we simply turn this into a RIP: Mosaic thread? At least it was started by the right man for the job, wasn't it? What's the need in trying to take an intellectual look into why this happened, and what possibilities lie ahead if they want to remain on life support? Hell, as somewhat short-sighted as it seemed on the surface, I think Lon was onto something with his suggestion earlier about them focusing on smaller LP box sets. But hey, let's unplug life support and honor the DNR. Better to mourn the dead than discuss any life-saving measures.
  22. NICE! Thanks for the update, Sonny!
