Would Ira Sullivan count as being overlooked?
-
Daniel Carter and Fredrik Kronkvist. Two completely differ players and styles, but both criminally overlook, IMO.
-
I don't think there is any question about that. Several of the RVG's I have on CD have the treble running WAY too hot. Point Of Departure comes immediately to mind. And IMO, that is a sure sign that hearing loss in the upper range was a factor. None of them are unlistenable, but some are so thin and brittle that they are certainly a difficult and fatiguing listen.

Our C.J. Shearn and moi in podcast

Just a quick bit of advice: you'd be doing yourself a favor by not speaking on anyone's behalf but your own. You've already used Mr. Shearn as a life preserver as you circle the drain of this toilet bowl you've created. That's really unfair to him. -

Feeling more sorry for myself? For what? I'm not the one begging for applause, and whining when I don't get it. -

If no one owes you anything, then why the pity party thread in which you proclaimed how hurt you were that nobody responded to you? Or that you were "reaching out to an administrator"? For what? Hoping they would enforce participation? And if you didn't hear back you were going to leave? Your petulance and lack of self awareness is truly astonishing. -

Then it's time to find a new line of work. Both of you. "Entitled to a little respect"?! That sums up just how delusional you are. I get the whole "sensitive artist" thing, but that doesn't excuse whining like a little bitch because you didn't get the kudos that YOU were expecting from everyone else. Put your shit out there, and let others do with it what they will. If you get no feedback, too fucking bad. -
Good lord. Jim put it nicely, and you lash out at him. I'll put it more bluntly. In recent weeks you've gone off because people walk around with earbuds in listening to music/podcasts. It's simply galling to you that everyone else doesn't share your life view when it comes to public behavior. Then you wrote a letter to the MTA complaining that your right to ...something... had been violated because a lady was talking loudly on her cell phone. One can only imagine the emotional scarring. Just a few days ago you lashed out at a few of us because we passed on what we knew concerning the Magic Jack and made it seem as though we were somehow oppressing you and not allowing you to make your own decisions. And now this senseless pity party where you have to crow about being a man of principles living by a strict moral code, an insinuation that no one else here does because they didn't take time to praise you for your interview? Well my friend, I'd say it is certainly time to fuck right off. You are becoming more strange, bitter, and emotionally unstable week after week. It is high time someone explains to you that the world does not revolve around the thoughts, habits, and actions of Joel Fass. And no one, I'll repeat, no one is under ANY obligation whatsoever to listen to any interview you do, any music you play, or anything that you have to say. So, I hope for your sake that you really are leaving. A place like this will never meet your absurdly high personal demands.
-
Not making it seem as though we were belittling you, or mocking your decision, or trying to prevent you from trying it for yourself actually would have been a good start.

Happy B-Day, MG. You curmudgeonly old bastard!

MLB 2016 Season Thread Of Discussions

As long as the Cubs lose and their largely classless fan base suffers further, I'm happy. -
I agree with the sentiments above. Try different players. Though, I will note that iTunes can also make copies like Roxio. In this case the software is of no consequence. If the optical drive cannot read the CD, game over.
-
Yesterday I opened my email to find a receipt from iTunes and noticed I had been double billed. So I started an online chat with someone in customer service, and five minutes later had my refund. Excellent customer service.
-
Who's stopping you?! Jesus you can be a really odd fucking cat at times. Again, if it doesn't work to your satisfaction just get high speed internet and hook up a wi-fi router.
-
One star average?! Wow, that's damn near impossible to accomplish! Why not just get regular internet and buy a wi-fi router? Hell, most internet providers offer you the option of one packaged in their routers.
-
Best of luck. I have no personal experience with Magic Jack, but when I worked for Centurylink, we constantly had new customers switching to over and telling us how insanely shitty Magic Jack was.

Anyone else into Noise Rap/Left-Field Hip Hop?
Scott Dolan replied to Scott Dolan's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I don't know about the cartoonish angle. Once Biggie and Tupac were shot down in cold blood, shit got way more real than it should have been. But hey man, east coast vs west coast! Take your sides and place your bets! The glorification that led to that, AND stemmed from that, was just a little too much for me. Tell me about where you came from, where you're going, and all those left behind to a fate that deep pocket record companies couldn't save them from. Hell, I'll gladly listen to that! But really, where you are right now? Yep, keep blowing through that cash faster than you can make it. I just don't find the bragging that will lead to your demise all that compelling. -
Anyone else into Noise Rap/Left-Field Hip Hop?

It's funny, I posted a "debate" question this morning riffing off of Joel's attempt to fire up a political thread, which Jim thankfully shut down. It was a simple question: Experimental Hip Hop, or Gangsta Rap? I have to say that Gangsta Rap was the catalyst that made me leave the Rap genre behind. I grew up on Grandmaster Flash and Run DMC, and finished it off with Public Enemy's socially and politically conscious material. But Gangsta Rap hit, and I had to tap out. Seriously?! Yeah, dude. You're the baddest ass motherfucker that ever lived. Please tell us more about your unchallenged badassery, and all the "bitches" you have at your disposal, not to mention how money simply flows from your asshole... *sigh* Whatever happened to having something of substance to say? -
What the hell is political or religious about a debate over whether one prefers Experimental Hip Hop or Gangsta Rap??!!
-
Experimental Hip Hop, or Gansta Rap?
-
Well, I guess we'll have to disagree. I hear no diffference. And that's using a not exactly Best Buy special. Whether I run it through my Dynaudio mains, or through my Emotiva preamp->HeadRoom Micro Amp->PSB M4U-1's. I hear zero difference between CD/ALAC and 256kbps AAC. None. And I'm highly suspicious of any who claims they can.
-
If you can't tell the difference, then what does it matter? This is something I've never understood.
-
What do you mean by "pull downloading"? And why would they pursue FLAC? They already have their proprietary ALAC.
