  1. The Japanese Trio LP reissue I have also incorporates the Bob Brookmeyer-Al Cohn quintet tracks that came out on Storyville.
  2. Recently added to the INA archives site, a 1958 tour of the Paris jazz clubs which ends with a visit to the Club Saint-Germain to watch and listen to Stephane Grappelli play with a rhythm section of Martial Solal, Pierre Michelot and Kenny Clarke! http://www.ina.fr/video/I09306248
  3. A "CD-R from China, sold in Japan"? I doubt it. Reeks of bootleg all the way. I am sure Mobley never saw money from this (beyond the usual Café Montmartre gig fee)! This is bootleg material, no doubt...
  4. Vincent Auriol?!? Don't think he was much into music
  5. ORTF source might indeed be true. The ORTF sound archives were 'explored' by several avid and unscrupulous fans in the late '60s. As for the BYG Actuel original material, the late Jacques Bisceglia who helped produce many of the sessions told me that as far as he knew the original tapes were lost in the chaotic saga that followed the label's disappearance.
  6. Art Blakey Big Band (Bethlehem reissue)
  7. This calls for celebrations! 1950 was a good year for the music of our President!
