  1. Has Dewey been replaced? Even if the card catalog isn't there anymore, isn't history in the 900s?
  2. "Fools are Getting Scarcer" by Roy Milton "You Can't Beat The Horses" by Big Boy Groves
  3. In that 2nd photo she looks like the cat that swallowed the canary. I think there is more to this story than is revealed here. From the smokinggun article: So those are not the mug shots from this incident.

    Herman Foster

I've heard these courtesy of a friend (or two) - they are OK but not tremendous, kind of like Duke Pearson's BN trio albums. Definitely nice but not earth shattering. Its as if with a Pearson trio recording, you lose his gift for arrangements/writing, and with Foster, what's missing is another solo voice like LD. He sounds good on those LD Argos, that's for sure.
  5. that goes double for me.

  7. Oh boy ... maiden post, first BFT - and its my BFT, which decidedly has some "surprising" tune selections. I hope I don't make thedwork think the BFTs aren't worth a damn. Anyway, thanks for joining up! Its not too late for you to get discs rather than download links. To send me your address, click on the pull down menu to the right of my name, and choose "send message". Give me your mailing address, and discs will be sent early next week. If you are OK with downloads (there won't be a difference in sound quality as both are made up mp3s), I will send you the download links via private message instead, whichever you prefer. Welcome to the forum!
  8. Dan, There's only one way to authenticate your sincerity. You must become a Yankee fan. Welcome aboard! Up over and out.
  9. Chuck is the voice of reason.
  10. My bad; I picked up on Plano and assumed ...
  11. Actually, Ella's These Are The Blues has Wild Bill Davis on organ.
  12. http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/wfaa...d.6f8a23c1.html The site may be crashing from too many hits, but the basic story is this: Texans football player is rushing to the hospital in Plano TX (hello, Jim!) to see his dying mother-in-law. Runs a stop light or two. Gets to the hospital with his wife and another woman. The women run out of the car and ignore the cop telling them to get back in the car. The player argues with the cop, who acts like an ass, threatens to run him in, and insists on him presenting proof of insurance. It takes 20 minutes, during which the nurses come out twice to try to get him to come inside and another Plano cop comes to tell the cop to let the guy go. Twenty minutes later, Mom is dead, and son-in-law is holding her cold hand. Now they've dropped the ticket. I saw the cop loses his job.
  13. So in other words you made an assumption that was proven wrong. Need I quote what they say about he who assumes?
  14. Coitanly! Hope you contribute whenever you get a chance to.
  15. Weizen mostly posts about Japanese mini-LPs but he does post ...
  16. Ginger Lynn.
  17. Probably in reference to a Gene Harris CD.
  18. undoubtedly, its Ginger.
  19. Is it OK with everyone if I use WinRAR to compress the two discs? I lost my copy of WinZip when we reinstalled our operating system last year. If anyone doesn't have a program to extract a RAR archive, I'll include links to a couple of options in my email with the download links. Thanks in advance
  20. FWIW, Wakefield looks sharp against the Yankees and George Katteras looks quite comfortable catching him. I think he'll do fine as Wake's caddy, which would allow the Sox to bide their time and either see how their catching prospects develop or wait for Texas/Arizona's price to come down (because asking for Buchholz or Bard for Salty or Montero is a non-starter, especially given the way they've both pitched this spring).
  21. If that's what you prefer, PM your address and Big Al will take care of it.
  22. Thanks, Ray! Sorry I haven't participated in yours, maybe by this weekend I'll get a chance and post some comments.
  23. Update: If this will nudge anyone towards participating, I did some final rejiggering of the CD and ultimately added an exceptionally cool and extraordinarily rare recording to one disc which already has at least two others that few people have heard. Al - I'll be burning the final versions and mailing to you by Wednesday. Hopefully we'll get a few who request the burned disc option.
  24. I totally agree. Credit to Murray for anything beyond introducing music to his kids and any early encouragement is perverse. And I tend to doubt any early encouragement was without its own psychological damage.
