Funny, we were talking about this a while back. I consulted my recording of the Wilson band on Frankly Jazz and Frank Evans gives it an intro - Blues For Yen Yah.

So does he get the MVP votes those guys did?
-
So is it really possible for Pedroia to get a decent amount, or any, MVP votes? Leads the league in BA, hits, multi-hit games, already set the team mark for runs scored by a 2B, on his way to 20 homers and 20 steals (and this is the guy who challenged Youk to a 50 yard dash last year - maybe he should demand a rematch), top flight defense ... I wonder who the last guy to win an MVP was who hit (mostly) second. Joe Morgan? Well doesn't that make sense?

Down Home Blues, co-led by Gene Harris, is excellent. But then again I'm a little biased.

I noticed that WGN bailed on it for the Cub game, then went back to it ...

We should start a pool to name the last TV show and movie you saw in 1978. I'll say "Charlie's Angels" (Ooh, the Cheryl Ladd years) for TV show and now that I've looked at Wikipedia's list of films released in 1978, I have to go with "Debbie Does Dallas". Do I win?

Don't you mean January when the new season of American Idol will start?

Forget Stupendous, Now Everything is Priced to Move!

Thanks for letting me know. -
Uh, sorry Brewers and Sabathia fans, but you don't get to turn something into a no-hitter after the fact. I mean, beyond the fact that the hit call is totally defensible and proper, I find it really funny that now, under these circumstances, they are begging for an error, whereas, if an error were judged the first time, they'd be bitching and moaning about the injustice of it. But most importantly, part of a no-hitter is pitching NINE FULL INNINGS without allowing a hit. Its spending the last four or five 1/2 innings all by your lonesome on the bench because your teammates are following protocol. Its the building pressure, out by out, knowing a mistake means it will all go for naught. Its hardly the same to have a fair ruling overturned after the fact, and presto chango, you just threw a no-hitter. Where ya goin', C.C.? It is analogous to the fallacy of the claim of "if we just got that guy out in the seventh inning, the game would have turned out differently." No it wouldn't, because the subsequent events are dependent on that out not being recorded. A manager might have pinch-hit someone. He might have called for a bunt, he might have done any number of things differently and therefore you can't change one event and assume that everything that happened subsequently would be the same.

He's a great guy, no doubt, but if no one else takes advantage of these prices, its gonna be time to pack it in. Which is to say, the list is now updated for the PM received. Everything else is available, no waiting. -

Up, because prices have been whacked like a Soprano. -
What a goddamn motherfucking PISSER of a game. If they miss the playoffs by one game, this is the game down the stretch that they fucked away through frightful incompetence of hitting and umpiring (the fucking home plate umpire needs some remedial lessons on the strike zone and the fucking third base umpire should be fired for cause).

VB's story reminds me of when, in the middle of their "feud" Sargent Slaughter and the Iron Shiek were pulled over while driving together, with pot in the car.

27. Those pop culture questions are what's stoopid.

Very strange after the whole team was hitting right after Manny got there..... Not so strange... it's the curse of the Manbino.... still glad he's yours. Considering the winning percentage with Bay, and the way Bay has played - as many RBIs as games played - who wouldn't be glad? And it will really thrill me to no end if we do some damage in October while Manny is yelling at Boras, "why did you tell me to force a trade?" while Joe Torre is booking tee times.

So did the Red Sox, including some of the most important members of the ill-fated 2003 team. And as the absence of Grady Little's nightmarish incompetence helped the club in 2004, the absence of Dusty Baker's stupidity can only help this year's team.

And are the new sections the "drossy" ones? -

I subscribed for a period of time when they gave me a year as part of my deal when I submitted the Eddie Higgins interview, but I haven't seen Cadence in a long time. So what exactly are the changes? -
I haven't gone CD shopping in a long time but before I stopped buying, I was starting to put things back on the basis of "is this going to be significantly better or different from what I already have by X?"
-
I have it on vinyl, never bothered to look for a CD.

What a win by the Cubbies!! Down 4-1 in the eighth, a grand slam by A-Ram wins it over the Phils!!!! GO CUBS!!!!!

You know, I'm supposed to be happy with two out of three in New York, and if the Yankee bats had come alive and spanked us I would have been annoyed but looked at the bright side. But the way they fucking PISSED this motherfucking game away just infuriates me. There is no fucking way on God's green earth that Okajima is supposed to face Giambi in the seventh inning. NO MOTHERFUCKING WAY. Do you expect Giambi to pinch hit for Molina with a runner at second, after the geriatric rookie got lucky after a strike three foul tip? Fine. Which lefty faces him, the soft-serving Okajima or Lester, who was dealing all day long?? You could motherfucking see that home run coming. Fucking Masterson would have been a better fucking choice. Now the motherfucking Yankees can pretend that they are still in it, and when the Blue Jays lose tonight, we fall back to 4 1/2 out of first place. With the Twins right on our tails, we cannot afford any losses of games with a two run lead with seven fucking outs to go. :rmad: :rmad:

Just to keep my non-American friends up to date, all packages went out today instead of Tuesday (I wanted to make one trip so I held off til a couple of people made their payment). So MG, Sidewinder, Denis, Gokhan, Yves and Marcus have all shipped, and once I get a handle on a particularly large order from New York, I'll be sending out grand totals on the latest batch of sales from the recent price cuts. But in the meantime there's plenty of good stuff available! I really figured those mini-LPs and all of the TOCJs would be snapped up by now. -
Indeed, but I've come up with a new way to summarize it again: I listened to other stuff, I got bored, I discovered jazz, I spent a lot of money buying a lot of jazz, and now I am selling it all.

What's strange about that comment at the end, Conrad, is that Boston was on Kotsay's no-trade list, and they had to make a nearly $400,000 payment to get him to drop the objection.
