I hope he stays healthy, but if he does get hurt, I hope your timeframe is correct, cuz we've got tickets for two games against the Reds at Fenway in June!

I wonder if this was one of those sessions like the infamous Stitt/Dex session, not happening from the start. Are there many dates that only lasted three takes for three tunes? Sounds like the guys just didn't have it goin' on that day.

There Was a Bomb at My School Yesterday!
Dan Gould replied to Alexander's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I was going to make a comment about "Alex the bomb-thrower" but that really isn't necessary. B-) Definitely agree with the comments about language, though. -
What surprises me is that he keeps putting things out on Concord but I could have sworn they had dropped him. I have noticed that the last few releases have Hamilton as producer, so it makes me wonder whether they're distributing his own recordings. Anywhoo, for what its worth, I always thought that Race Point was one of his nicest dates.

Sounds like a great find, Mike! (But not as great as mine ...

Ah, to be a teenager again.....
Dan Gould replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I believe there is a link. Apropos really. If the Republicans hadn't abused the independent counsel and created the "bring down Clinton at any cost" hysteria which led to the Clinton impeachment, then their daughters wouldn't be sucking so much cock…(and taking it in the butt for that matter). I think what you really mean is "ironic": Supposedly "moralistic" condemnation of Clinton by Republicans leading to the immoral behavior of what you presume is their offspring. -

Going To Disney - Orlando
Dan Gould replied to Kevin Bresnahan's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I was in Orlando this past weekend for a 40th birthday celebration with my best friend and we ended up at the Disney Swan because one friend had offered to pay for the birthday boy's room, and I got the free ride. So for the first time, I stepped foot inside Disney, and for the one meal we had on the premises, this showed up at our table: He started in at me and I told him what I promised my friend I would tell him: Get your goofy ass away from me. I hate that shit. -
Ah, to be a teenager again.....
Dan Gould replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Anyone else see this as contradictory to just about every other study that's been done?? Everything I've previously read about adolescent sexuality is that since sometime in the 90s (I have no idea if there's actually a demonstrable link to Monica and Bill) more and more girls perform oral sex on their boyfriends (or their "friends with benefits") in lieu of intercourse, believe that the risks are much less, and are proud of preserving their virginity. And it is far, far, far more rare for the boys to perform orally for girls. So, I gotta say that I have to seriously question the results of this study, based on that very surprising result. -
So what did Che do to get banned at JC, and is that officially a new record for quickest banning? Is there a thread over there someone can point me to?

Favorite "Plays the Music of..." Albums
Dan Gould replied to Brownian Motion's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I like the Jazztet and John Lewis album, and there are a couple of "Plays Horace Silver" albums that I also dig, but I can't remember right now ... the Mastersounds? Or was that Little Miss Cott? Don't know why I'm blanking, its not like I should mistake one for the other! -
Does Jessica Alba get naked or near naked? I think that would be the only thing that would overcome my general aversion to the whole graphic novel thing.

Baseball 2005 started and already 1 player caught
Dan Gould replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
He's not "banned", he's suspended for ten days. And he hardly qualifies as a poster child for steroids: 4 homers in 1300 lifetime at bats. It makes me wonder whether he's being honest when he says he hasn't juiced. What will it say about any testing program if its demonstrated that some legal supplement turned out to trigger the positive result? Yeah, athletes are responsible for what they put in their bodies ... but the whole idea here is to find and punish CHEATERS, and a guy whose game is all about speed, not power, doesn't strike me as someone who actually had the requisite intent of getting an unfair advantage. Not saying that he couldn't be juicing, but this is definitely not the guy MLB expected to be the first to test positive. -
Moods and maybe Good Deal or Here We Come.

I remember I spotted this at a record show at a time when I didn't know the non-BN Three Sounds discography, so it was quite a pleasant surprise, just finding it. Its OK. nothing special though.

Peter, I've got two ideas in that regard: Pitching an article to DB or Jazztimes that they could use as a sidebar to a review of Janie Harris' biography of Gene Harris. Trying to pitch the story of how this music was rescued to NPR. The advantage there would be that the music itself could be incorporated into the report.

Just ask Jim to make Politics invisible to you. Then you won't see the Political Forum, and any active Political threads will not be visible on the View New Posts link either.

Allen didn't post, so I will: It made it to Maine in one piece! Can't wait to hear what Allen is able to accomplish with it.

What do you need? A check? How much? That's not the problem. The current server the board resides on won't support Version 2, so Jim has been waiting to hear that the board's been migrated to another server before he can upgrade himself.

Funny Rat: Could somebody explain what it's about
Dan Gould replied to TheMusicalMarine's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I think Funny Rat is so settled into the collective consciousness that it should never be changed. MM, here's all you need to know about Funny Rat, my earlier description: No vermin. Not funny. -
Acquitted? dang, I thought he was just dead. Bronson, Baretta, you say tomato, I say, "Well? Are you feeling lucky, punk?"

I finally got a chance to hear this, and everyone should get this immediately. I think it is sure to make a helluva lot of year end lists. In fact, between this and my own recent find that rescued some forgotten music, I'd safely say this is much better and more historically significant, too.

Congrats! Sounds like Greg is earning his keep, and the band is profitting!
