Interesting Tranche of Jazz Vinyl from Carolina Soul Up on Ebay
Dan Gould replied to Dan Gould's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
I am glad you found something you liked at an acceptable price, Eric. -
Indeed. And while albums may sound alike, I think that's more a testament to their consistency and simpatico feel among the members, honed by years on the road. For me The Three Sounds function as high-level jazz as well as "pleasant" background jazz. Like Houston Person's many HighNote CDs, this is legit jazz that can be played at a gathering with non-jazz fans.

And more Percy w. his original tenor inspiration, Budd Johnson:

I'd second Shrdlu's recommendation, especially given Peter's stated enjoyment of the Blue Hour disc. There are several tracks on this that are similarly down-tempo. Aside from that one, Feelin Good and Here We Come also get strong thumbs up here. Note: The domestic CD of Black Orchid is strong and also good value - something like six additional tracks added. Note: You might want to edit your Topic to "Best" not "Beat".

Thanks for joining in, glad you liked at least some of the tunes!

Interesting Tranche of Jazz Vinyl from Carolina Soul Up on Ebay

See my original post. Owner is dead. I doubt this is consignment they made a deal with the heir(s). I have to say I am shocked at the price on what Kevin has shared and while I can understand an "autograph" premium there ought to be a noticeable "non-removable sticker" debit. -
How are fat girls and mopeds alike? They're both fun to ride until your friends find out.

What should you do if your partner starts smoking in bed? Slow down, and use more lube.

So I was at Mom's apartment in her new assisted living facility over the weekend, and we stumbled across a rebroadcast of a Cub-Brewer tilt from 2019. Since her favorite Cubbies were still on the team we decided to watch the game ... and I am absolutely staggered to see the "Key Moves" scroll and then confirm things now that I am back. Apparently in the run up to the owner lock out the Sox were busy and I missed it, and the damage was hardly described in the : It just said the Sox had acquired Jackie Bradley Jr. Turns out it was Hunter Renfroe to the Brewers for Jackie Bradley Jr and two prospects who have done nothing above Low A ball. Jesus Christ, one of the best hitters they had, with an incredible arm in the outfield, for a guy they gladly waived goodbye to last year, and hit .160 in 134 games for the Brewers. When I heard JBJ, I thought that maybe they were moving Kike Hernandez to 2B to improve the infield defense and thought, "OK". But now I see this and all I can do is to quote Bulldog Bob Briscoe: "This SUCKS! This is total BS!!" Oh, and a reunion with Rich Hill. Maybe league average starter until he gets hurt. BFD.

So your app only identified two items (plus, I assume, the Gene Harris Concord recording)? Thanks for keeping the actual cut numbers out of it though it should really not be hard to figure out which two were ID'd. Thanks for joining in Ken, I do appreciate it even though you didn't like that many tracks. (And I'll take the "under" on your estimation of number of tracks you own. Could be as few as 2.)

Glad you enjoyed the compilation Randy. Unfortunately you got the titles right but none of the guesses landed.

I concentrate on Ike and Grant, never even thought of discarding Dodo's BN.

How are cyclones and marriage alike? They both start with a lot of blowing and sucking, and in the end you lose your house.

OK a tad scatological. Three old men are discussing their medical issues. The first one says, "Oy, I'm so constipated. Twenty days straight now." The second one says, "you think that's so bad, I'm up and down every 30 minutes, needing to pee. I can't get a wink of sleep." The third one looks at his friends and informs them they have no troubles compared to him: "Every night I sleep like a baby, and at 7 am I pee like a racehorse. At 8 am, I have a nice satisfying bowel movement." His friends look at him and one says, "how does that possibly compare?" "I don't wake up until 9."

On the drinking, on the BFT, or both?

I think I get first dibs on copyright. After all I nearly went with Linky Dinky.

Thanks for jumping in and giving it a try, since your reactions track my dear friend Mr. Felser's pretty closely, I am not sure if you should bother with 10-13, but as long as you don't share his "I prefer Monk played by Monk himself" preference, you may at least dig #10.

That may be, but I hope you're willing to comment on the tunes even if IDs or guesses aren't so easy.

Congratulations, 1 down 12 to go.

How much music would you say has been lost?
Dan Gould replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Miscellaneous Music
That's the kind of destruction/loss that has to bother people. Or at least it does me. -
Well if you dig it out I am sure it identifies the CD it came from ...
