  1. Disagree. If the Mets really wanted to do the right thing they would have tried to void his contract BEFORE they found out about the season ending injury. The fact that they tried to void his contract AFTER finding out about the injury just seems really lame, imho. I mean if he hadn't hurt himself he would still be wearing a Mets' uniform. WTF? Finally some good press for a Phillies fan.

  3. Today's attendance in Atlanta for the Nats/Braves game - 15,593. I know it's hotter than hell down there and it's the Nats but come on Braves' fans!! Your team is in the middle of a playoff race. The Phillies are going to have their 100th straight sell out tonight. At least wait until next weekend when the Braves are no longer in 1st to stop showing up.
  4. Back from vacation.... This was just Tweeted by Clemens about 10 minutes ago.... I never took HGH or Steroids. And I did not lie to Congress. I look forward to challenging the Governments accusations, and hope people will keep an open mind until trial. I appreciate all the support I have been getting. I am happy to finally have my day in court. Rocket

  6. Howard to the DL. Great. Just great.
  7. You know when I saw that replay of pitch from the pitcher's perspective I thought it was pretty close. However, when they showed the replay of the overhead shot it looked like the ball missed the plate by more than an inch, closer to two.
  8. I'll grant you that pitch #7 was a ball but, take a look at that graph again. Pitch #1 was fouled off for strike 1. Pitch #2 was a ball. Pitch #3 which was a called BALL was actually was STRIKE 2 according to that graph. Pitch #4 which Arod swung and missed for strike 2 should have been strike 3. So really Arod should have been out 3 pitches before the ump's 2nd bad call. I didn't get that chart. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong. The called strike three was an inside pitch. That chart makes it look outside. It seemed too close to take though. I saw the video of that last pitch on ESPN this morning and you're right. That pitch was inside, not on the outside part of the plate like it is on the chart. Maybe that chart is from the catcher's perspective?
  9. Yeah, going against a team w/ home field advantage AND Cliff Lee twice in a 5 game series ain't good. You can thank Ruben Amaro, Jr. for that potential predicament.
  10. Forget for a minute that those pitching charts/graphs/etc. are highly subjective. According to it, pitch #7 was way inside and called for strike 3 when it should have been ball 4. However if we're going strictly on where the pitches landed according to that chart, pitch #3 was a strike. That means that pitch #4, which Arod swung at and missed, should have been strike 3. So it's really a moot point that according to that chart the ump blew pitch #7, IMHO. BTW, Edwin Jackson has a 7.24 ERA since his 149 pitch no-hitter. The guy the White Sox traded for him - Daniel Hudson - held the Mets to 3 hits and 1 run today in 8 innings. Just saying.

  12. Well considering that they lost to the Phillies 11-1 on opening day he would have had to hit at least 3 more. I do like Zimmerman. Unfortunately for him he plays on a crappy team albeit one that plays well against the Phillies.
  13. Happ's line tonight for Houston 6IP, 2H, 0 R, 4BB, 6K, 98 pitches - 54 strikes. He lowered his ERA 1.27 Thanks Booben.
  14. Oswalt is done. 6 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K (86 pitches, 54 strikes). Thanks Ruben.

  16. From Todd Zolecki's MLB blog..... Cole Hamels, on folks calling Halladay, Hamels and Oswalt the Big Three: "Nah. Leave that to LeBron and the Celtics."
  17. If the Phillies would have kept Lee and faced the Yanks again in the WS, the Phillies would have home field advantage and two pitchers that KILL the Yanks available to pitch 4-5 games of a 7 game series. Yep. That's pretty much what I've been saying since the day that boob traded Lee for 3 toilet flushes.
  18. They're selling the Albert Ayler box for $40!!!
  19. Strasburg placed on disabled list Didn't a couple of posters here mention this might happen because of his mechanics? Dan?
  20. Roy Oswalt vs. Mets (5-5, 3.68 ERA), Marlins (5-4, 3.72 ERA), Nationals (3-2, 3.52 ERA) ... and Braves (0-3, 7.58 ERA in 7 starts). Great. Just what we needed.
  21. Actually, it's been my experience that the Carter/Bradford FD vinyl is getting harder to find. Not that many come on Ebay anymore and when then do they go for $25 and up.
  22. NO! NO! NO! I don't want Oswalt and his back. Should have kept Lee.
  23. Damn. I thought Ryan Howard was swinging the bat well at .301, 23HR, 81 RBI but those three are hitting 50 points better. Domonic Brown went 2 for 3 tonight, scored 2 runs, and knocked in 2 more. Smacked a double in his first at bat. Not bad.
