    Time Label

Thanks Mike: I frequent your discography web-site for help also! dova
  2. Paul: Thanks for the Elvin Jones Lps. I have them on cd (enja) but the Japanese Trio Lps are nice, especially the 45rpm Very Rare w/Art Pepper. Your price was very fair and I encourage other board (bored) members to check your list out! Highly Recommended! Dova...

    Time Label

Hello: Does anybody have a Time Discography. I'm interested infinding out how many jazz artists they recorded ie: Little, Roach, Clark, Green etc. Thanks in advance! dova
  4. Hi: Went to Walmart.com and found several oop titles. $11.88 ea. Herbie Nichols: Love Gloom, Cash, Love Howard Mcghee: Dusty Blue Ornette Coleman: Love Cry They charge me $5.91 shipping and Tax Shipped in one day from their Dallas D.C. I'll use them as a source for OOP Titles. Unfortunately, no Conte Candoli: Powerhouse Trumpet!
  5. Good News: My wife just called me at work and said DHL just dropped of a package. hmmmm...... wonder what it is? She was sure curious. I think I'm going to go home for lunch. Hope I make it back to work. dova
  6. Dan: I'm thinking about giving them another chance and am pleased with the feedback received on this topic. I was starting to see that a lot of items I searched for, this seller kept appearing and have been leary of them. I appreciate everyone's feedback! dova...
  7. Hello: Just a little warning that this seller who is on Amazon & Half does not stock a lot of what they post for sale and they always have the cheapest price and say it is sealed. I ordered a couple of things successfully from them in the past but finally gave up when my latest transaction was charged to my credit card and low and behold, they did not even have it in stock. After numerous e-mails and sweet talk, I got my refund. Just curious if anyone else had an experience with this seller, or know any background on them. Thanks! dova
  8. Paul: Sent a p.m. on both Elvin Jones Lp's. Thanks! dova...
  9. This my first Mosaic pre order too and I believe the people at Mosaic will be blown away by the support this box set is going to get in sales. While listenening to Monkash, at the beginning, I heard a sound similar to Alice Coltranes impulse sides as to the strings and it also reminded me of Max Roach's soul note recordings with Max's daughter's string quartet playing with the group. dova
  10. Hi: I'm wondering if any of you have extra or special insurance for your cd/lp collection in the event of loss or casualty. I'm of the opinion that most homeowners policies only cover contents in a home up to a certain point and not collections. I appreciate any help especially from you insurance experts! dova
  11. Hello: I recently organized my Blue Note cds by themselves in alphabetic order and it worked out rather nice. I'm contemplating doing this with the remainder of my collection by label. I have several thousand cds and the only problem is an artist like art blakey who is on over a half dozen labels will be spread out as opposed to all together like I have it now. Any thoughts on this as additional ideas are appreciated. p.s. I organized my Blue Note vinyl the same way as the cds. Dova
  12. I have recently been scouring around for past cd releases on the Candid label and ran across Richard Williams on Trumpet on a title called New Horn in Town. His supporting cast is Reggie Workman on Bass, Richard Wyands on piano, Leo Wright on Tenor and a guy named Bobby Thomas on drums. I don't know of any other sessions Richard led but MAN, can he blow. This is 60's hard bop at its finest. The Lp is cost prohibitive for me as it sold recently on e-bay for well over $250.00. I ordered the cd from Amazon sealed and even it wasn't exactly cheap. Trust me on this one, you will be extremely pleased!! dova
  13. Check it out! oldies.com vee jay blues box $28.95 for 5cds. Comes in a nice black wooden box with a brass collectibles badge and drawers slots for the cds. I'll post pictures later. These will go quickly. http://oldies.com/product/view.cfm/id_01472.html Got it for x-mas from the family!
  14. I recommend this to anyone who's been looking for this. I'm not the seller, just wanted to pass it on. Good Luck! dova http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...4055670672&rd=1

    Elvin is dead

Elvin: I worshipped you and all of the recordings you are on.I'm thankful to own everything put out by you as a leader and had dreams of seeing you live. The drum gods like of Max Roach, Roy Haynes, Roy Brooks, Louis Hayes and Joe Chambers are still alive and will help keep your flame burning. This is a sad day for me since I just found out, but as a fellow drummer, your inspiration has taken my playing to where it is and I will continue to grow for having you leave your mark on me. Thank You for all you've accomplished... I Love You!!!!! Dova
  19. I basically buy RVG's of titles that I want and don't already own on cd. My listening system costs as much as a nice new Bass Boat, and needless to say the McMaster cds sound quite good at a listening level of 25%. I recently picked up Joe Henderson's In-N-Out on the 1994 release even though I know the RVG is due out soon and it sounds great on my system. I think the RVG concept is over rated and I prefer to pickup the Conn's that come out only once a year. dova
  20. Hi Guys: I bought it for $76! It may sound crazy to some of you, but this is one of the few titles I'm looking for to complete my Blue Note collection which is mostly on cd, Mosaics, and Lps. I was bidding against a newbie with (0) feedback and everytime this happens, it costs me. I understand weizen has all of the jvrg series and that is quite remarkable. My friend brought over his Liberty Lp of Easterly Winds last night and it is an excellent session . If you haven't heard Garnett Brown blow excellent bone with Jackie and Lee before, your missing something special. Weizen, if I buy from you again, I'll try not to make it so noticeable to everyone. Happy Holidays and Great Listening ,and to all a Good 2004!
  21. Hello: Has anybody heard this session made up of Boland, Clarke, and some foreign players to form an octet. I can't find any reviews or sound bites anywhere. It came out as a japanese cd and now a paper sleeve mini Lp. Thanks! dova
  22. Soulstream: Look at this as a time to contact establishments you may have played at in the past and let them know that you are available. Also, don't think of the unemployment as permanent because things change. My jazz trio was laid off and rehired several times during 2003 at a popular resturant and had to put up with it beacuse the economy was hurting their bottom line which is where entertainment gets the ax! We also play a lot more private parties where the money and hours are better. Good Luck! dova
  23. This set works great to invite your wife or significant other to set in on one of your listening sessions. Normally, on a lot of the hard bop I play, my wife either shuts my door to seperate us or won't enter the room unless I turn everything down. Try it and you might be surprised; a little wine, candle light, you catch my drift?
  24. Does anyone know how many of these were made. I have about 6 of them. They have the dark blue label, play well and have excellent liner notes. They always seem to be cut-outs and usually sell on e-bay for $7-12.
  25. This hill session is like none other he has done or Blue Note has ever released. This may be a nonet but the unique thing about it is, at times when everybody is playing, it sounds like a 17 piece Big Band. Other times it sounds small group like some of Andrews other recordings. I especially like Hills montuno work. I also like the way Hill allows the horns ample opportunity to solo and gives himself solo space at just the right time. As for recording quality, it is about a 9 except when Lenny White slashes with Toms and cymbals and the remastering can't quite handle it. For those unfamiliar with Joe Farrell, look out beacuse when he enters the room and says something, his muscular sound grabs your attention. This is the first of the new Conns I've heard and have to admit it is a unique session that will require repeat listenings to appreciate how great it actually is.
