  1. Yesterday Disc 3, The Brazilian Connection. Foollowed by Miles Davis; Jazz At The Plaza. from the Complete Miles and Trane set.
  2. Today's listening DIscs 1 and 2. Disc 3 lined up for tomorrow. Appropriate as I'm reading John Szwed's SO WHAT.
  3. Today's listening
  4. Lovely, perhaps my favourite Konitz. NP
  5. IMO BassDrumBone is a super group (in the all star sense) comparable with any. They offer something for everyone from straight ahead swing to a funky grooves. Unfortunately their visits to the UK have been very few and far between but I did get to see them in their early days. I've been a big fan ever since. All their recordings can be recommended. Forty years and still going is pretty remarkable in my book.
  6. Same here.
  7. Today's listening. Catching up on some KD (plus some top notch Mobley.)
  8. Today's listening
  9. Belated Greetings Tom. Glad you had a good day.
  10. Terrific set. Great solos all round. Contains my favourite Mobley composition "Late Show"" (aka Hank's Other Tune). It was this piece, on an Esquire EP, that made me sit up and notice Hank and Hard Bop when still a teenager.
  11. I no longer have the original double but IIRC it did have the VeeJay logo. Again if memory serves the sound wasn't too special.
  12. Then Thelonious Monk; Olympia Paris 6 March 1965. Laserlight 2cd.
  13. It's been a Lee Morgan morning.
