Two nice, contrasting, dates from 1961/2 from Contemporary.

Just now Disc 1.

Those were the days. I can recall salivating over the records that Jack Cooke would write about in his "recent American records" essays. Terrific reviews from Harrison, Morgan etc. A big influence on me at the time.. Current jazz journalism doesn't seem to approach the standards these achieved. Incidentally Ron Atkins still reviews occasionally in Jazz Journal.

Yeah love Deadman. Withput giving to much thought he Budd Boetticher/ Randolph Scott films take some beating. I'm thinking particularly about Comanche Station and The Tall T. Both classics.

I've been meaning to dust off Waves of Dreams for some time now and haven't got around to it. Maybe today's the day.

I have the vinyl of both of these, Both are keepers. Excellent music.
