  2. Yesterday Great record with a dream team, Olu Dara, Fred Hopkins and Andrew Cyrille.

  4. The sad news keeps coming. Fortunately I did get to see him in London leading a terrific nine or ten piece group. Memorable.
  5. Some very nice Murray here. Sparkling piano from John Hicks and top notch playing from Ray Drummond and idris Muhammad. Branford Marsalis guests on two tracks..

  8. Yep. I'm not sure I'd go for Brown Vinyl (Tatum), beige/yellow with black splatters (Ellington, Strayhorn), pink and white marbled (Garner), yellow with orange splatter (Getz). and so on.
  9. RIP Fats. I'm pretty sure that Fats was the first black American music I heard back in the mid 50s as a teenager.

  14. Sadly I'm not really up to making London gigs these days. Iwould have loved the opportunity to see the wonderful Hugh Ragin again. Fortunately I can think back 30 years or more to seeing the AEOC on two occasions, The atmosphere at the Roundhouse for their first appearance was absolutely electric - unforgetable.
