  1. i would hope there is a more practical method than commonly used today. mandatory cremation possibly? Cremation is not good for the environment. because of the smoke ingredients? I'd imagine it depends on who's getting cremated. If it's a donald trump there's a polution factor, if, say a ralph nader, not so much.
  2. In defense of America, our cars are much improved, thanks to imports kicking our ass. My Taurus has been trouble-free for as long as I've owned it, four years. I know about Pintos. *snicker*
  3. Wonder if Ohficials followed the letter of the law and held the dogs in quarantine to make sure they don't have rabies.

  6. *Ouch* That had to smart. I'd like to see a pic of that. Wonder how many pellets went clean through, if you could stick a finger through his leg.
  7. Damn!! That was a hell of a play.
  8. I imagine the gov has something to say about green funerals; e.g. the water table might be fairly close to the surface, or porous soil, risks water contamination.
  9. I have not seen, nor looked for, I confess, an energy comparison chart. I guess the difference perhaps may be 1 mpg to 1 1/2 mpg?
  10. This is a 1980 Time-Life 33 1/3 RPM promo/sampler. Earl Hines hosts, explains each composition. It's pliable, like a floppy disc. West End Blues--Louis Armstrong I'm Comin'--Bix Beiderbecke Basin Street Blues--Benny Goodman What A Little Moonlight Can Do--Billie Holiday Someday Sweetheart--Coleman Hawkins West End Blues(another)--Louis Armstrong

  16. True, you see some real oldies, B-49, at some of these air shows; and damned if I want to go up in an old biplane, e.g. Anyhow, not to hijack the thread, but when defense money talk comes around somebody usually points out how "old" the B-52s are, e.g., never mind that they are adequate for doing the job, their life expectancy greatly exceeds autos; got to have latest, it means jobs and votes...MONEY.
  17. I'm ashamed to say that I've got only his Mirror Mirror LP. His playing on the Mingus Mingus.... recording is my all time favorite though. "Ashamed" because I started hearing him live around 1960. He came down here with Toshiko and Eddy Marshall, then I heard him play tenor one night with Kenton over on Ft. Bragg. Then I met him again at berklee. I'll have to rectify the situation. BTW, my Mirror Mirror has 1972 on it; it's probably the release date, not the recording's.
  18. I had a neighbor/friend originally from Boston nicknamed Grub. He got the name was because he was a chef....or so I'm told. Yes, "grub," with one B, is slang for food; which may be archaic. Grub is also the larvae stage of some bugs/insects, e.g. the june bug. [June bug grubs mature in cow shit, then turn into a big colorful beetle like bug.] Bet you won't comment to me anymore.
  19. Jan Garbarek Palle Danielsson Jon Christensen I'm liking this:
