  2. ...and live gigs were detronized by radios and jukebox... and the Pony Express was wiped off by telegraph and railways...so what? In the XIX century learning an instrument was an essentialy part of any good bourgeois education. In the XX century a stereo gear was an essential furniture of every bourgeois house. In XXI century a wide band connection to internet and iTunes is an essential service of every bourgeois house. They call it "Progress". BTW a mediocre player IS a mediocre player if he has to play on a stage. You're all heart.
  3. Here in NC we used to go to SC to get M-80s and cherry bombs when I was a kid.... good times, until I threw one out the van, it missed and bounced back in and exploded inside the van. I heard bells and ringing for a week. Anyhow, now they're illegal. I don't look forward to 7/4 because some doofus usually sets my field on fire with his fireworks/skyrockets. This year was calm, I think because there are more responsible tenants on the rental properties across the way.
  4. Blood Sweat & Tears, Chicago, Tower of Power, Ten Wheel Drive, etc. True. There've been many groups that used horns, but, the numbers and opportunities pale in comparison to the groups that don't, and the number has steadily decreased over the years. This phenom has carried over to commercials and promos where synthesizers are used to get horn[and strings(violins, etc.)] "sounds." Editing and overdubbing techniques are used to fill out horn sections, whereas one or two players record and overdub several parts. Generally speaking the mindset has been taken away from the player/artist and been replaced by another kind of art/artist, the editor. Computer editing programs in the hands of a somewhat musically savvy editor can make bad and mediocre players sound really good. re: genius I don't consider Hendrix, et al, genius(tho he might have been). I think the more appropriate/correct term would be ingenuity. also: Funny how in some quarters a guy that's merely an adequate player is considered a virtuoso.
  5. Well, it appears that I'm in the minority here. I think he's pretty much right-on with his depiction of the 60s, especially the "soulless" musicians part. e.g. The first thought I had when I first saw Big Brother and the Holding Co. was "How the fuck did Janis Joplin get hooked up with these soulless mofos?" They were like oil and water, neither belonged with the other. They were way too much contrast for me. Anyhow, I'm not familiar with Nugent's music, maybe he is soulless, the kettle's calling the pot black (pot---hee hee, I made a pun.). The 60s were sure as hell the beginning of the demise of horns in pop music. The ushering in of synthesizers, volume to be heard in stadiums was maintained in small venues. Pure phony bs, imo. And the pill giving women a false sense of equality(not that some are and are not equal).
  6. Actually it's supposed to be a "happy as shit" icon. But, it seems to fit "panic" and/or "going berserk" too.
  7. After selecting Quick Edit from the drop down menu and editing, how do I (re)post it, where's the Enter button? I know I must be overlooking it, but, I can't find it! Or, which Enter button works, so many choices? *PANIC* Thanks.
  8. Really good advice here. I agree, #1 don't panic, #2 don't despair Be realistically positive, it's not the end of the world.
  9. So, uh, what's your recipe? Or is that some kind of trade secret? Really easy and simple to make. 2 cups small elbow macaroni(precooked) 6 large eggs 3 heaping tablespoons of real mayonnaise(as much as you can get on the spoon) 3 heaping tablespoons of sweet pickle relish 1 can of tiny shrimp boil mac for 5 to 7 minutes in salted water, strain and let cool boil eggs for 19 minutes, let cool, then peel and chop up Strain water off shrimp Mix everything in a medium large bowl, voilà! It's that simple and tasty.

Believe it or not walmart usta have a good french bread(well, it was a good bread), but they fucked with the recipe, cutting corners, until it purelee sucks.
