Drat! Now we need to move this to the Mosaic profiteering thread...
-
One thing that came out of the space race was the increase in technology. Personally, I don't see any reason to go to Mars. I'm all for good telescopes and satellites.
-
Okay... I can sell it for $100 dollars profit. All I need to do is buy four of them, sell three (for $399) and whalla... free guitar. I don't think it will be that easy...

Africabrass. You have always come across to me as someone that thinks before you post. I guess I am in favour of space exploration, but I would question at what cost? Che. Thank you, Che! I try to think before I post, but it doesn't always happen.

Africabrass. You have always come across to me as someone that thinks before you post. I guess I am in favour of space exploration, but I would question at what cost? Che. I guess I'm looking at a different issue. I don't really believe the space program has anything to do with those who need help not getting it. I figure if our leaders truly wanted to address social needs, they would move Heaven and Earth to make it happen. If... the space program really kept people from getting what they needed, then of course, I'd say it's not that necessary, but I think if they closed Nasa today, then that money would go somewhere else. It wouldn't be used for social causes. My country is running on credit as it is.
-
I consider the exploration of space to be science and I consider science important. I'm sad that Nasa isn't funding some really good projects (like the Hubble telescope) anymore. I don't really care about landing on other planets, but I do enjoy the effort to see farther into space and to understand our place in it. The argument that we could use the money for better purposes could be applied to almost anything. Even if they took the funding away, I'd bet you a Greg Osby cd that it wouldn't go to the purposes that you mentioned. (I think this topic will eventually be moved to Politics - it's hard to discuss this without going there).

Joe, you gotta be more subtle. "Sure the disc is $15, shipping and handling is $285" 50 cents a day Joe, 50 cents a day! That's working on me!
-
Thanks! It's my favorite too of mine. Yours is one of my all-time favorites too.
-
Damn! That's more money than all my guitars combined.

We'll ALL be in trouble!

Take a cold shower. That's not a bad idea. You just don't know how sweet those G&L's are...
-
That's a really good price. I was really bummed that I missed out on those guitars. I hear they sound really good. I wonder what it sounds like. I'm tempted to drive up there and check it out. I remember reading those G&L pickups on it are wound a little bit hotter than the normal ones. If it's not too far from you, I'd check it out. I heard those mahogany bodies sound really good with the G&L pickups. Damn! Now you've given me G.A.S. and there's no way for me to do anything about it. It's an hour. Maybe in the morning... Bummer... What I like about them is that they're like the ASAT Jr., but they have the regular G&L stop tailpiece. I prefer that to the ASAT Jr.'s stop bar and tune-o-matic.

I'd be surprised if you see it, but... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I wish you all the best on your 60th.

Modern Rock - what do you like???

That's the cover of "Dry", isn't it? I haven't heard that album in years, but I really liked it at the time. -
Some reviewers at H/C like to review their new guitar right after they purchased it. You've got to be careful about this. Also, the Musicians Friend page for this guitar has reviews by purchasers. They look pretty positive. I'm like a little Devil on your shoulder... sorry.

They get that way. It's a frenzy sometimes.

Cool! If you decide you're interested, I'd act quickly. I don't know how long this deal will last. Here's a link to the thread at Harmony-Central.com where I found out about this special. I believe some have already ordered them and have posted info and pictures. Harmony Central Epiphone AlleyKat thread

I believe it's a semi-hollowbody. One way that I know the difference (from a picture alone) is because Gibson (and Epiphone) doesn't put the stop tailpiece on fully hollow guitars. Hollow guitars come with trapeze tailpieces. Since this has the stop tailpiece I believe it's a semi. Also, you can check Epiphone's website. At least that's what I've been told. This might be a good beater guitar for you, Joe.

DEAL ALERT!! Musicians Friend is closing out on Epiphone Alleykat guitars right now. It's only the Vintage Sunburst model, but they're selling for $299 instead of the regular $499 price. List price for these guitars is $831. I'd be all over this if I had the cash... Epiphone Alleycat at Musicians Friend

Although . . . hmmmmm . . . I dunno . . . a nice big hollow body jazz box? Heck, don't get any ideas from yourself!
-
That's how I've been learning to play. And people wonder why there aren't many vintage Gibson hollow bodies around anymore. It's amazing he could pull stuff off like that with such a large guitar. It makes Hendrix look like an amateur. Just don't get any ideas from Pete Townshend, Ron...

You must be married. That's what I was going to say! I like the new Cool Cat avatar, Ron. I'm glad you're happy with your guitar.
