Yeah, I hard the girlfriend was a witch and that the combo of what she was doing and the heavy drugs were Skippy's undoing. It's such a shame. He seemed to be a little looney to start with, but... I agree about Forever Changes; as much as I love Hendrix. I love that album. Robert Plant is an interesting guy. You'd never think he'd be a fan of Moby Grape. I was also blown away when I read an article and he gushed about his love for the Incredible String Band, and the influence they had on Zep's acoustic stuff. I love the early ISB albums myself.

Do you have any local papers that specialize in classified ads? There's one in Southern California called the Recycler, that I used to use often. I don't know about your area, though. There's a site called craigslist that's good for selling stuff, but I don't know if it covers where you live. If you have that for your area, you could try that... I'm glad you're happy with the Cort!

It's a great set. Actually, my copy is sitting right next to me on the table. It's a GREAT set. And I'm listening to mine (# 2285) right now! I only wish that I had Chuck autograph it for me back in January Mine is #2196. I purchased mine through True Blue along with some Mosaic orders. I know I should have bought mine from Chuck, but I gave into impulse while ordering from Mosaic.

I have a couple of their SX basses (a P-bass and a Jazz-bass), and they are incredible deals at their $120-140 prices. I'll try to post pictures of them today.

I think this is a very special set. I'd recommend it to anyone. This is an example of Verve's creative packaging that I actually like.

Not really. I can barely solder, myself. Most of my guitars are stock, but there is a whole subculture of people who love to modify their guitars. The story I've heard is that he was into some dark stuff with this girlfriend he had. He proceeded to flip out and try to attack drummer Don Stevenson with a fire axe. I thought they then took him away to Bellvue, where he wrote some of the songs for Oar, and upon his release six months or so later, rode to Nashville and recorded Oar. I've been a big Syd Barrett fan forever and Spence is the American (actually Canadian) version. It's really sad, but I've enjoyed their music. Here's an interesting picture of Skip performing (post-Oar). I've never seen pictures of him playing after the breakdown. My guess is that this is from the early 70's around the time of the Grape's 20 Granite Creek Album. I think the other guy in the picture is the fellow who was brought in the band to help keep Skippy in line.

I have been told to ALWAYS use a quality solder designed for electronics; a 60/40 multi core rosin type is what has been recommended to me.

I love his early 70's stuff myself. There are a bunch of downloads on easytree right now of early-mid 70's shows. I'm working on getting my upload ratio up right now (I've finally got the firewall thing settled), but I hope to download them soon. I also agree with David and Paul about Mingus Plays Piano. I really enjoy Mingus' Impulse recordings; they were some of the first jazz I purchased.

Put me on your list. By the way, the Cort M800 arrived today! It is a nice piece. The finish is beautiful. Some of the hardware seems a little "light." Specifically the tuners and tailpiece. The pickups seem decent but I'll probably drop my Golden Age pickups in it this weekend which could be a challenge because there is no rear access. I guess I'll be working through F holes! The action needs a little tweak and maybe even a turn of the truss rod but the neck feels good. Straight out of the box it's a good playing guitar. It's light and well balanced. I think after a few minor adjustments this is going to be an excellent playing and sounding guitar. It will likely replace my Les Paul and my Broadway BOTH and be my main axe! If anyone's lookng for this style guitar I highly recommend scraping together your nickels and getting the one on Ebay with the Buy It Now of only $400! Congrats, Scott! I'm glad you like your new guitar. I hope we'll see pictures soon. Heck, I gotsta be taking some pictures myself...

So where's the picture of the Jazz Bass? Ok, let me get it together... These shots don't look too good, so I'll try other later. Nothing special looking, it's candy apple red. year = 96. Don't worry about it. I've seen those basses.

He was and I've given away a few myself. WTF... Okay, to be fair, if either of you decide to give another away, it's gotta go in "Pay It Forward". I'll be monitoring that VERRRY closely... I'm pretty happy with what I have now, so I'm probably going to be keeping them... but if I get a crazy thought someday, I'll remember you.

Sorry to hear that! I'll have a photo of my fretless later. Too much sunlight causes problems with my el-cheapo digital camera. That would be great. I do have three of my Telecasters here. I'll shoot a photo of them soon (just to get you in the Telecaster mood).

I agree. Maybe that's one reason they're so addictive. I wish my G&L's were here, I'd post pictures of them.
