  1. Thanks, Ubu. I've updated the list, plus links where available, including a new Paolo Fresu 8-CD box of Blue Note recordings. F
  2. Really? Guess you get one of these for free with each order:
  3. New box set: Chick Corea's GRP albums, 7 CDs, Link. F
  4. Thanks! But the inlay card on your CD, does it show 10 or 11 tracks? F
  5. As far as I know, physical copies of Kenny Barron and Dave Holland's Art of Conversation have 10 tracks. However, the inlay card in copies seen in Spain show a track #11, "Calypso", but it is not on the CD. iTunes carry that tune. Anyone knows whether there are physical CDs carrying 11 tunes? I know it's probably a misprint, but still... Thanks! F
  6. Pullen played Café Central (Madrid, Spain) several times. See this. I didn't know there were recordings of the shows, but EKE BBB may know more. F
  7. My main problem with the article is the recurring disclaimer inserted in the text. If you need a recurring disclaimer, what you need (probably, IMHO) is to change the text and get rid of the disclaimer. And second, repetition renders it invisible (at least for me). There's more in the line of historical inaccuracies (which I guess are covered by said disclaimer - it just doesn't make it for me). Maybe later. F
  8. Re: feedback on Lulu.com, they've delivered to the UK in six days.
  9. Re: Tchakoura's Farlow. Expensive, but looks great, good edition, hardback, quality paper, plenty of images. Got it in London in 5 days. Mine is #523 from a limited run of 650 (according to ParisJazzCorner). F
  10. Thanks Bebop for the heads-up on Lulu. They seem to have a few books by Mark Miller. He's one of the good guys, his book on Charlie Parker in Canada (not on Lulu, I'm afraid) is the definitive account on the 1953 Massey Hall concert (proving that Ross Russell's version is mostly b.s.). And thanks, too, Big Beat Steve for the big Farlow book. I didn't know about it! F
  11. Yep. My mistake, thanks!
  12. Bumping this up with this new 9-CD Italian box Michel Petrucciani: The Blue Note Albums 1.- 100 Hearts 2.- Live at the Village Vanguard 3.- Pianism 4.- Power of Three 5.- Michel Plays Petrucciani 6.- Music 7.- Playground 8.- Live 9.- Promenade with Duke Only available from Italy as of now, for under €40.
  13. The little I've listened to and the fact that they've not bothered to include discographical info leads me to think that this are early-90s masters, for whatever that may be worth. Except the four Retrospective and two White Country Blues CDs, the rest average 20 tracks per disk, which should be under 60 minutes of music. Messed up with love carries 16 tracks. Other than that, it's great music, but not having the discographical info is a drag (although some is available on Wikipedia and discogs.com). F
  14. Sorry, yes, I meant it includes composer and publisher credits, but neither dates of recording, nor personnel. F
  15. Got it from Amazon.de. CDs come in individual sleeves, plus a thin booklet with no discographical info, only publishing credits and a few introductory paragraphs about each disk. Then again, the price is what it is. F
  16. Source: http://www.gould68.freeserve.co.uk/wes3.htm The page carries a picture from the recording session. F
  17. IIRC, things only got bad for JSP when Bear Family sued for their ripping of the Carter Family set. More, here. Edit to add that some of their sets seem to have been legit (in the EU), like the ones remastered by JRT Davies (and Ted Kendall?). And in case you are in (or passing through) London should note that Fopp in Cambridge Circus is known to have offered them for £9 or even £6 each. F
  18. Amazon UK is offering this 16-CD Earth Wind & Fire set for £30. (Edit to add) And the Philadelphia International 20-CD set for the same price. F
  19. I'd ask Mark Cantor (http://www.jazz-on-film.com/contact.html#contact) F
  20. Teddy Charles did some.
  21. CDs received in perfect package and condition. Thanks!
  22. PM sent re: Pete Brown: From the Heart (Verve/Universal, UCCV-8365) Ray Crawford: Smooth Groove (Candid/Teichiku, TECW-20494) Joe Morello: Collections (Intro/Toshiba, TOCJ-9453) F
  23. Interesting. I only have L'Intégrale des Albums Originaux (2010) and won't be able to compare CD-to-CD till September. I don't know the second Intégrale (2003), the one I guess you have. I know the first one, a 10-CD set from 1988, and the latest one should sound better (and has more music). I'm no audiophile, and especially with Brel I admit I don't pay too much attention to the sound. I hope no one is too disappointed with this, or that any problems maybe overcome with a bit of EQ-ing. F
  24. I've also got a friend who'll be grateful F
  25. PM coming RE: Shorter, Kelly, Brown, Joneses.
