Upright Bill

I teach Bass and Guitar at a music store. Last week when chatting with a student after his lesson another person in the store butten into the conversation and stated, "Nobody actually likes Jazz." I guess my jaw dropped because the person went on to explain, "Nobody actually likes Jazz because the songs don't have a melody. They claim to like it so they will appear to be smart." The person was the piano teacher.

What she doesn't know doesn't hurt me.

My wife knows that I'm addicted to Jazz but, according to her, its better than some other things to which I could be addicted. She's very supportive of both the listening and the playing. However, she still doesn't "get it."

I got home early last Thursday and there were three (count 'em THREE!) boxes left by the UPS guy from Mosaic addressed to my wife ! I must have been very good this year.

Chuck & Joe, It was great to meet you guys. The concert was great, conversation was excellent, the beer sucked. Joe, I have to admit that I thought it was pathetic the way Brad swooned when he spotted you. Jeez, I've seen hero worship before but that nearly made me lose my gross, warm beer! Chuck, I'm looking forward to more "war stories!" John Hebert was (like most bassists) a very personable guy. Nice 1900's German bass as well. Upright Bill & The Greyhounds
