  1. Yes, my understanding is that the Top Rank pressings are from the mid- to late-1960s.
  2. Pretty nuts. RIP.
  3. Atlantic recording and, possibly, bad mixing surely can't have helped the band sound "fiery."
  4. It's up through Sunday. I've been going and will continue to go. Writing an article on the whole shebang so will link that when it's up.
  5. Have heard Borca in non-Lyons contexts and she carries her own just fine. There's a non-commercially-released thing with Irène Schweizer, Parker and Cyrille that is particularly good.
  6. Indeed, I find and buy things often! Some of them are even good and affordable... I have a crisp HMV mono of "Coltrane" that sounds amazing. I do not believe that they used RVG stampers but I'll re-check mine.
  7. Raymond Boni - Rêve en Couleurs - (Palm, FR) thanks to homefromtheforest for the hookup on this one; had the Futura and a couple others but never this title. Very strong.
  8. Donald Byrd - Byrd Jazz - (Transition, JP Norma) Richard Beswick/Phill Wachsmann - Hello Brenda! - (Bead, UK)
  9. Damn -- that's pretty incredible. Well done.
  10. Jeez, this sounds wonderful. When I saw the title of the thread I assumed it was referring to damaged masters.
  11. ah, missed this but keep us posted on future events! I do love dessert....
  12. Yeah it's a particularly good one. Hadn't heard it in a while and I've been returning to his LPs lately.
  13. Indeed, it's a beautiful record, and though obviously cooperative music I always considered it more of a Cyrille date.
  14. Billy Bang - Untitled Gift - (Anima)
  15. Yamashita Yosuke Trio - Mokujiki - (Victor World Group, JP)
  16. I hear you. The box on Ayler was something, although perhaps not all of it essential... still, interesting.
  17. Thomas Börgmann/Max Johnson/Willi Kellers - One For Cisco - (NoBusiness) I was at this concert and the music is just as wonderful as I remembered.
  18. William Burroughs - Call Me Burroughs - (ESP, US)
  19. Dusty Groove has these or should have them. In New York, Fred over at Jazz Record Center stocks the Gearbox releases as well.
  20. It's really good. I could easily get you a copy as it seems to float around NYC bins a lot.
  21. FWIW, I don't recall it being all that great but I'll revisit.
  22. Got it on LP - will have to dig this one out again. Been a while.
  23. Depends where the accent falls on "gay."
  24. Yes, very weird and I prefer this to the first volume. Weird is not a bad word.
  25. Peter Cusack, Guus Janssen, Evan Parker, Terry Day et al. - Groups in Front of People 2 - (Bead, UK)
