Please PM if someone buy it. I have a spare near mint copy on my shelves, deep groove, RVG, 'ear'...oh wait it's on cds...
-
The orange/black label exists in shiny and matt versions. Shiny labels appear to be earlier - at least for the first 99 (?) titles. Best sounding originals IMO are white label promo's. Peter I have some of WLP, and I agree, but all my copies are mono and I presume that all of them are mono. So if you prefer stereo, you should go for the orange/black label. Never known about shiny/matt labels, thanks for the info.

Correct, it's a second pressing, 1968, second Impulse! label. I would suggest you to get a copy of Goldmine's Jazz Album Price Guide, the best source of informations about pressings, labels, covers, ecc., (unless Chuck or Brownie will quit to rest like retired and will decide to put on paper a better one ) though not reliable about prices. Try on Amazon or some other online bookshops http://www.amazon.com/Goldmine-Jazz-Album-...e/dp/0873498046 You'll not waste your money on it. AFIK it covers U.S. realeases only.

Why not a place where the musicians of the forum
porcy62 replied to porcy62's topic in Forums Discussion
Great! Musician members do it! I'll promise to check the thread often out. Wich title of the topic do you prefer? -
I just discover Johnny E is a musician, as well as being a pain in the ass for the poor reps of the forum, am I wrong? http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...mp;#entry624932 And just discovered a record that actually I liked, for what I listen to. I know this is the Big O Forum, (I bought all your cds, I plea my innocence Jim) but I would like to listen what you, lucky guys who learned an instrument and know how to play, are doing. So why not a little place where you post at least the links of your websites? A small discreet place, where poor ignorant people like me can have a look at your work? I never check Musicians threads because I found it too specific, but I am really interested in your music, I could even buy some new cds... Actually I just bought two Reptet's cds, surely more interesting that the 1000th Keith Jarrett trio ECM realese.

Thanks Brownie! I'll discuss the 'Paris Operation' and his tactical guidelines with my general staff, aka my wife, in the week end. -

I'll be in Paris with my wife for a week end 16th of march, I'll probably will spend saturday and sunday to visit Louvre, Pompidou Center, ecc, since I've been in Paris only a couple of times spending most of the times in bed and going to watching old movies with my former french girlfiends, two young cinephiles in love , long times ago, I think Mitterand was still president... My hotel will be close to Sorbonne. Any suggestions for new things, like new architeture, museums, "must see"? I know I should stay in Paris a couple of years, to see everything, but I will appreciate some suggestions anyway. Two things will be very, very welcomed: an great oyster and seafood restaurant and a jazz records (vinyl) shop. My wife will work on monday morning at EU meeting, so I have a recreational time for my personal visit. I obviously will be pleased to meet some of you parisien, maybe for a glass of vine or aperitif, only one glass, otherwise my doctor could kill me.

Actually yes, you have only to signal it with your direction light flashes and be cautious.

Exactly, not all the motocyclists are Hell Angels or thugs in love with speed.
-
In Italy they do. I didn't think about it, actually they can't Same in Italy, but not very often. So we may agree to ban SUV from public road and left motorbikes, some sort of plea bargain
-
You are absolutely right Yyves concerning the sound of those original Contemporary stereos - they are great ! I've got the 4 Blackhawk LPs on that black label stereo imprint plus the 2LP set of the Manne-Hole recordings. The latter is a good one to get after the Blackhawks. I have the monos and they sound great too

Here in south Florida, motorbikers do not respect the speed limit, which is why I mentioned 50 miles in 15 minutes. That's 200 mph, which isn't far off what they drive. They also do not use caution in zig zagging between cars, beyond the fact that doing so violates the law. But I presume that a lot of car drivers act in the very same way. Strangely in Italy, the most dangerous and idiot people drives big SUV, a means of transporting totally useless and overdimensioned for italian roads and climate condition.

The Evolution of the Montage
porcy62 replied to Teasing the Korean's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Of course. But the montage has remained as one of those options, and I was simply pointing out its conventions and cliches as it has evolved. No malice was intended toward forum members working in the film industry. What really changed in term of public perceptions is that in the old days when public doesn't have yet learned how to read a movie, they had to use cliche, like the cross-fade between the face of the character and a sequence, people knew that was a flashback, a memory of the character. Now that we all are used to movies, tv show, ecc, because we grown up with them, our comprension is much more sophisticated. We don't need cliches anymore. A lot of editing "rules" are changed because of that. Ah, yes you are referring to montage sequence, isn't it? -
The Evolution of the Montage
porcy62 replied to Teasing the Korean's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Actually, for time you can do that simply with a cut and a title like "Two days later", in the next shot. Things happening is more difficult, everybody's using something different. Newspaper titles, photographies of the characters in the key moment: marriage, when a child is born, you name it. Is up to the director and the editor to choose the way. And we have a lot of options. -
Since I am a motorbiker and motorcycles are my religion, after I quitted catholic church, I friendly invite you to respect my religious believes and to avoid travelling in Europe, expecially in Rome. I am a good guy, but I don't know how my friends of the Holy Church of The Blessed Piston Rod could react at your observation. Do you zig zag in between cars and make lanes where none exist? Do you attempt to cover 50 miles in 15 minutes? If you do, you do not belong on public roads. With all due respect to your religous beliefs. I mean I use the motorbike in the city precisely to avoid traffic jam, my behavior may include a legitimate and cautious zig zag between cars and lanes as far I can do it respecting the road laws, otherwise I would buy an old Sherman Tank or would use public transports. About the speed I don't know, if you respect the speed limit what's wrong with motorbikers? I forecast that our discussion will come to the same happy end of EASY RIDER.

The Evolution of the Montage

A simple question: what do you mean with "montage"? As I am a film editor in my real life, what you described is something between the plot, the editing, the soundtrack and the genres (western, action, love, noir, ecc). -

Nice catch, for $ 20 you are safe of all common bad surprises of sealed records: warped and outer edges severly scratched. I too bought some sealed records now and then, but at your prices and for more expensive records I pretend a refund policy. How can you know that a sealed record comes from a mispressed series that the label had just left in the canteen for 30 and more years?

Have a look at this and look how the words STILL SEALED may cause severe damages in the human brain. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?s...;sass=bobdjukic P.S. Note that sealed items are not eligible for a refund.

I noted that they issued four volumes of the sessions on vinyl, wich one do you suggests, considering that I am not a huge Pepper's fan? I recommend getting hold of the Japanese Contemporary box of Vols 1 to 3, if you can find it porcy. Mr Tanno sometimes has a copy available. Thanks, i will keep my eyes open about it.

Actually, no. But the stereo is a three tracks mix, as they used at Columbia. It might be that they runned two recorders.
