  1. Why not a Rega? Solid british stuff, no thrills, no gadgets, just music. Though I never listened to latest models, I was tempted by Rega when I bought my Linn.
  2. Chuck forgot to mention it but they are both sidemen on the Roscoe Mitchell disc. Guy Nah, I don't believe you... If this is the date I know of, there will be at least one surprising participant. It starts to sound interesting...Hope this doesn't prevent Chewy to buy the cd.

  4. If Manfred would go that way you'll have covers like this Doktor Caligari presents Jan Garbarek, ECM New Series
  5. Ach so, in this case I disagree with Bertrand, great food and cheap prices.
  6. No Garbarek, no Jarrett? mmmh...Manfred is ageing
  7. Wich Mozart? Sonny Mozart the bass player or Chuck Mozart the trumpeter?
  8. Dexter Gordon - DEXTER CALLING... - BN NY mono 'ear'
  9. ...and you were the one who dislike ECM cover art...
  10. David Bowie THE RISE AND THE FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS, RCA Uk pressing.
  11. Free - HIGHWAY - Island, UK pressing "Pink Rim" label
  12. Free - FREE - Island, Uk pressing "Pink I" label. Quite depressing lyrics, but nice songs
  13. I do because I own only a crappy RVG cd. Poor me - I've got an Applause LP and a TOCJ CD. MG Yeah, sometimes, life is really hard.
  14. I do because I own only a crappy RVG cd.
  15. But the combination of the two is heaven
  16. Didn't you shield the chambers? I am saying it because cosmic uncharged particles may damage the pigments of the sleeves in long term, common concrete doesn't do the job. My suggestions is a combination of magnetic field and XXX materials. You can find the formulas on NASA website.
  17. Maybe some of you remember the movie "Man Bites Dog". I don't keep money at home. And the most valuable thing is the home itself, so I think they would have some problems to move the whole building. Laptop, cameras and Tv are usually the most valuable things they could steal from my house. That's why I keep a back up of my work on cds. About hi-fi, my dealer told me a story about one of his customer: he had at home 100K of hi end gears, the thieves stolen the microwave, washing machine, tv, fridge almost everythingh and left hi fi. Over there professional thieves are well informed about what kind of value you have at home: carpets, paintings, furnitures so I am not really scared about it. And usually we haven't got firearms at home, so who cares? It just things. Today one famous football player was robbered in the middle of the street, they stolen his 20 k wristwatch. My wristwatch worths 100 dollars.
  18. I wouldn't tell it to your psychoanalist, be elusive: Uh, yes, I like music, it relaxes me...no, actually, you know, I am not a real collector...just like jazz. No, I don't spend too much money on it, you know, used vinyl is cheaper...
  19. Me too, or between the sleeve if it's a getefold cover. And all inside in a plastic outer sleeve, for dust. Yep, I do the same with one of those thick PVC covers. Plus cardboard inner if its a flimsy rarity. Now that's is on the edge of psycopathology
  20. Sonny Rollins THE BRIDGE Classic reissue. Not my preferred Rollins, but...nice.
  21. Rolling Stones LET IT BLEED Decca, mono.
  22. I am waiting for Chuck's reaction at the word "audiophile"... Anyway I would expect that when someone put the hands on the original master tapes of Coltrane or Miles, he has the very best of top equipments that money could afford. I mean why should I buy A Love Supreme remastered on a cheap laptop with a cheap audioboard and 200 $ crappy loudspeakers? My old vinyl sounds better on my home equipments.
  23. The Plastic Ono Band - LIVE PEACE IN TORONTO 1969 - Apple I am still asking myself: why did Mark David Chapman shot John instead of Yoko? The side two of the record is the evidence that Chapman was definitely crazy, you don't need any psychiatric survey in the court, just a brief spinning of Side two.

  25. That may be the main reason for many remasterings' crappy sound. Right, a lot of Pro Tools wizards and no experienced engineers. At least as far as pop/rock is concerned, it's often the artist or labels that want the remasters to sound that way (loud and bright), even if the engineer knows better. Correct. I had the same feeling when digital video editing was introduced fifteen years ago. During the years they added a lot of tools, sophisticated digital effects, color correction, ecc. Every new effect had its moment of glory, and faded after one season, when another one was introduced. All the producers/directors acted like babies: Wow! Great!. Some more of this, some moreof that! Worst of all, after a while, everybody in the industry believed that in post production everything was possible, (that is true for Lucas's movies, not for common broadcasting's budgets), worst even the cameramen believe it. To sum it all, when I got the shooted tapes in my editing room, I spend a lot of the time to settle bad shooted, and bad recorded, stuff, instead of focusing on the 'creative' part of my job. To simplyfy: if a bad cameraman doesn't know how to use the iris, filters, etc, I could try to correct it afterwards, but the true colors are lost forever.
