  10. Anyone know how this book compares to The Earthly Recordings of Sun Ra (2nd edition)?

  16. Yeah, there is an intersection between Grofield and Parker in a couple Parker books. Both the Parker book Slayground and the Grofield book The Blackbird start with the same botched robbery in chapter one of each book. The books then tells the separate stories of what happens to each character after the get away from the robbery scene. Maybe that was another challenge. And the first Dortmunder book, The Hot Rock, was originally supposed to be a Parker book, but the story veered off in a more comic direction and Westlake decided to go along for the ride, as it were. Yes, "Jimmy the Kid" - the third Dortmunder book which is one of the few I haven't read yet.
  17. Now playing: Ludwig van Beethoven – Trio for Piano and Strings No.9 in E flat major WoO 38 — Daniel Barenboim (piano), Jacqueline Du Pré (cello), Pinchas Zukerman (violin) (EMI Classics) Ludwig van Beethoven – Trio for Piano Clarinet/Violin and Cello No.4 in B flat major Op.11 — Jacqueline Du Pré (cello), Daniel Barenboim (piano), Gervase de Peyer (clarinet) François Couperin – Les goûts réunis ou Nouveaux concerts: No.13 in G major — William Pleeth (cello), Jacqueline Du Pré (cello)

Frédéric Chopin – Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor B.160/ Op.65 – Introduction and Polonaise for Cello and Piano in C major Op.3 Robert Schumann – Adagio and Allegro for Horn/Cello and Piano in A flat major Op.70 (arr: Friedrich Grutzmacher) — Martha Argerich (piano), Mstislav Rostropovich (cello) (Deutsche Grammophon)
  19. Béla Bartók – Sonata for 2 Pianos and Percussion Sz 110 (Philips / Deutsche Grammophon) — Martha Argerich (piano), Stephen Kovacevich (piano), Willy Goudswaard (percussion), Michel de Roo (percussion) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Andante and Five Variations for Piano 4 hands in G major K 501 — Martha Argerich (piano), Stephen Kovacevich (piano) Claude Debussy – En blanc et noir — Martha Argerich (piano), Stephen Kovacevich (piano) Béla Bartók – Out of Doors Sz 81, Sonatina for Piano Sz 55 — Stephen Bishop-Kovacevich (piano) This is CD 11 from the Argerich DG box. The cover of this CD really confused me — it doesn't match any of the contents of the CD! It has the cover for the concerto version of the Bartok piano-four hands & percussion piece which is the bonus piece for CD 10. And the bonus Bartok solo piano pieces don't even include Martha! Here are the original LP covers:
  20. Yeah, the Grofield novels tend to be a bit less, um, stark than the Parker novels.
  21. That would be nice. I only have the two Columbia albums - Masterpieces and Uptown. At least they have a few bonus tracks.
  22. Max Bruch – Scottish Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra Op.46 — David Oistrakh (violin) – London Symphony Orchestra – Jascha Horenstein Paul Hindemith – Concerto for Violin — David Oistrakh (violin) – London Symphony Orchestra – Paul Hindemith (Decca Records)
