  1. Thank you, Jim. You can count on my cooperation.
  2. You gleefully made hash out of the BALCO leaks regarding Barry Bonds, Danny. And given your propencity to assume facts ahead of actual evidence, WTF do you care about constitutional rights? Including the 4th, 5th and 6th Amendments. I applauded the arrest and conviction and sentencing of the DEFENSE attorney who leaked the BALCO Grand Jury testimony. Just as I have no problem with the reporting that certain players are on the list of 104, the FIRST AMENDMENT of a free press is paramount and as such, the NYT is free to publish the information they receive as the San Francisco paper was free to publish the Grand Jury testimony of one Barry Lamar Bonds. How laudable, Danny. But that still doesn't discount the fact you used that leaked information to defame Bonds. That kinda makes you an accessory after that fact now, doesn’t it.

  4. I wholeheartedly disagree. I am with Hank Aaron on this one: Make the 104 names public and let's get on with our lives. Enough already. And you still need proof Bonds "knowingly" took steroids, Danny. That is our system of government and without proof, the Feds got no case. Exactly. Well put.
  5. Though it was cool seeing Lincecum put in as a pinch runner....kid can do it all!
  6. I'm not crazy about it either, WB3 The Giants can get the guys on base but have one helluva time scoring anybody. Lead-off triples go for naught, two men on no out and everybody's popping up the first pitch. Then, my personal favorite, a weak dribbler to 2B for a double play. And don't even get me started on Romo plunking a guy on Sunday to walk over a run with the bases loaded! Grrrrr
  7. Actually, I hope the Rockies knock the Dodgers out of 1st. Then, looking ahead to September, I hope the Giants send them from the WC. It would be a great year!
  8. Assuming he did this after passing third base, he's only doing what Big Papi started. Ortiz got tired of the pounding headaches he'd get if he went into the dogpile with his helmet on, and 24 guys pounded on his head. Apparently helmets really amplify the force being exerted on the hero's head. it was a joke, I don't expect anybody to to act like they have hit a 14th inning walk off grand slam before. Good Speak, Jenkins is right on money again as always. Lots of goats last night, Zito wasn't one of them. That's a fact, too. I mean, walking the opposing pitcher with the bases loaded??? WTF was that all about?
  9. WB3, Bruce Jenkins in the Chron....and I have to say: He's right. Get Off Zito's Back
  10. 29 total with the Giants in three years. This is the first year with the Giants I will say he hasn't sucked. Last year Cain got no run support this year its Zito's turn. If the Giants win tonight they split the series and the Rockies have to come to the phone booth twice. It ain't over yet. 29 wins against 41 losses, WB3. At $18 mil a year, that is pathetic. TBH, if you do a game by game study on Zito you will note that he shoots himself in the foot by too often giving up runs in the first three innings. Cain was doing the same thing; not so this year and his record shows it. I just think it's too easy to go with the lack of run support idea. Lincecum hasn't seen much of that either. And you're right....it ain't over. Lotta baseball left. You know what would make me really happy this year? If the Rocks knocked LA out of first place, then the Giants knocked the [hated] Dodgers out of the playoffs.
  11. The stat I listed was over the three years he has been with the club and has gotten four or more runs. Now it doesn't take into account the games he got 3 runs or less and gave up more than five runs in his career with the Giants but you can't deny that this year he has pitched well. I say he comes up big tonight and Giants get the split. Saturday and Sunday were brutal losses. If by pitching well you mean he wasn't 0-11 like he was last year before notching his first win then, yeah, I suppose that's right. And 19 wins in three years is just plain awful for a starter, wouldn't you agree? My point is if Zito constantly needs four or more runs to win a ballgame then he's pretty much useless. You have to win those low scoring games, too. Cain and Lincecum pitch for the same team and have 12 wins each and 2.43 ERA. Zito is pushing to a five run ERA with a 4.26. And I hope you're right about tonight. The Giants need to get focused here....and soon.
  12. My Giants just plain blew it this weekend. I mean, how do you out-hit an opponent and still lose...twice?!? Amazing.

  16. It's about damn time. I mean, what is the deal with the Cubbies this year, anyway? sheesh
  17. That's the second one this year, has to be a record... And an unassisted DP to end the game, ta boot. Hasn't happend since May of 1927
  18. Yeah, I know. It is painful to watch.

  20. OK. Favre just needs to retire already. A classic case of yet another aging superstar who just doesn't know when to quit.

  22. Or maybe you need to acknowledge Rowand is just having a rough stretch. Rowand's 3-run jack yesterday sure straightened the kinks out on that one, eh? Go Giants!
  23. On another thread I was hoping for Rowand to sit out, who hit the clutch 3 run homer so Fred Lewis could start who pitch hit k'd with runners on 2nd and 3rd and didn't even run out of the batters box. If I never see Fred Lewis again it will be too soon. Never thought I would hate a bay area player as much as Jack Cust but Fred earned it. Did the Red Sox even play last night? all I saw on the ticker was the Jets @ Patriots score. Left field is a black hole for the Giants this year, it's an awful combination, this Lewis/Valez two-headed monster out there. Neither can field worth a darn. That's a fact, too. Lewis couldn't catch a ball if it was handed to him.

  25. say what you want but his life time record when he get 4 runs or more is 19-2 in the orange and black, and 104-6 in his 10-year career. look at any box score from any night and a lot of teams can manage 4 runs. Well...not exactly. Zito has 41 losses against only 29 wins....in his 2 1/2 [seems like 50] years with the Giants. He has given up 291 runs, 507 hits, pitched an average of 174 innings in only 91 games [that's two innings a game on average] and has been behind in runs before the third inning this year 8 times out of his 11 losses against a 4.29 ERA. In short: Zito sucks Yes, exactly. In the 21 games the Giants have got 4 or more runs when he started he has won 19 of them. Not sure where you got your math above. For the his career with the Giants I have 524 innings pitched and 507 hits allowed. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/z/zitoba01.shtml This year he has given up 139 hits in 148 innings. Anyting less than a hit per inning is considered good. Yes the walks drive me nuts and his WHIP isn't so hot but he is now a legitimate middle rotation starter again. Doesn't justify the contract but still not as bad as you think. As for Nate, Bochy doesn't play young players, I want to see what he can do when he plays everyday. Its stupid to have hitting coming off the bench when your starting lineup lacks hitting. Zito only has 8 wins. With all due respect, I don't see how he can be credited for 19 wins. Using that as a reference then, he's a winner only when sitting on the bench. That is cold comfort, indeed. And Nate is a good player, no doubt. But his BA is inflated due to the fact he is at the plate so infrequently; not enough ABs.
