I served on a hit-and-run DUI case, an attempted murder case and [i swear to you, I am not making this up] a cattle rustling case. We found the defendant guilty in all three cases.

I kind of started it, I guess. Meant it to be lighthearted, not an opportunity to take pot shots. A thousand pardons. Agree or disagree, I enjoy Dan's posts. The man knows his baseball. I've been called to service more than twelve times in the last 25 years. I have been selected five times and served on a jury through to fruition three times. Except for the fact it has to be the biggest pain in the butt to get someone to cover for my classes, it is a very interesting adventure in some cases. I was even the foreman once. Twelve Angry Men is a play I teach to my sophomores every year so the experiences come in pretty handy

I claim to be no expert, but they have been highly regarded for the past few yrs and come at a very affordable price usually $12 - $14. Just make sure you look for the Grand Estates and not Two Vines which is a cheaper version of the label. Thanks for the tip, Tom. I've been meaning to take a chance on that winery...I'll check it out. We had the Merlot with dinner tonight [my wife is a Merlot fan...so I went with it] and it was a very good pairing with our BBQ'd Filet Minon. An excellent wine for the price [$12 bucks]. That's great! Glad to have sold you on this. You really can't go wrong for the price and it's a darn good wine. Check out the Cab at some point also. Will do. I mean, the wine had a nice inky color to it, good body and a very soft finish which stood up to the flavor of the meat. Very nice

Question: Is Shane Costa back with the Royals? Last I heard he was sent down to Triple-A. The reason I ask is he's a former student of mine. 2B'er Aaron Hill of the Bluejays is also from my town; I announced his number [and Costa's] many times when he played HS ball.
