  1. ...and a head case.
  2. Thank you...I'm here all week-wan.
  3. OK. Niners draft DT Kentwan Balmer. I'm sorry...but what the hell kind of name is Kent-wan? Am I the only one who sees these made-up pretend names as just plain stupid? GoodSpeak-wan; aka, Tim-wan. Sorry, if I have offended. GEEZ-fucking-wan.
  4. Yes. Yes it is.
  5. You gotta stop thinking in terms of wins and losses and look at those peripheral stats - speed on the fastball, strikeout rates, walk rates, runners allowed to reach base. Sure he's going to win one or two now and again - but wins aren't the best measure of a pitcher anyway because too many things come into play that a pitcher can't control. Its like we said about Cain and Lineceum - with that offense, they could go 5-17 with an ERA under 3. It stands to reason that a mediocre pitcher could do the same thing but have an ERA of 5. I agree....wins are not the only measure of a good [or bad] pitcher. However, Cain couldn't win a game if his very life depended on it. Lincecum was the winningest pitcher on the Giants' staff last season and with the same crappy hitting we have this year. So it is possible to win and without the best of hitters.
  6. BTW....Lincecum is definitely a keeper. The kid was throwing BBs last night Wins 1-0 in a pitcher's duel.
  7. You have got to be kidding me. The NL West has been an offensive wasteland for years, not least because Petco, Dodger Stadium and Pac Bell all are strong pitcher's parks, and the humidor in the Rockies has brought that stadium back to earth, too. Zito is no head case and the AL West, with DH's and smaller parks, for Christ sake, is not weak offensively. Zito has been declining since his Cy Young season, and everyone knew that except your GM. Why do you think it so long to get him signed? You had no competition but you couldn't stand up to Scott Boras and he snow jobbed you into a record breaking contract for a league average pitcher. You may be right, Dan. But c'mon even a declining pitcher can win a game or two now and again, don't you think? He's a head case.
  8. How about, he's a pitcher who has been declining steadily since 2002, his "fast"ball is somewhere between Mike Mussina and Jamie Moyer ... and you've got him for what, seven more years? That was a horrible signing a year and a half ago, and it will get worse every year until he's gone. Pretty much everyone knew that Zito was getting worse, not better. No pitcher is worth such a long contract, but at least the Mets signed someone at the top of his game. The Giants signed a piece of garbage who has only continued to stink. Only five more years and you're right. $17M per year and for what? Grrrrr In Zito's defense I thought he was great in 2006, you have to remember that year the A's went from having the big 3 to just having Zito and they not only went to the playoffs they got out of the first round thanks to him. I always liked the guy. Sadly for the Giants reports are his velocity has dropped to where there is no difference in speed form is change up, curve and fastball. If he can't get his velocity back he will need to be a Jamie Moyer type, soft, softer, hit the corners, bust them in with a 84 mile an hour fastball after a diet of 60 mph soft stuff. The thing is those types are guys at the back in of your rotation who are into their late 30's not your young Ace. My theory is either the hitting isn't as good in the AL West as it is in the NL West or Zito is a head case. What a tragedy on two legs this guy is.
  9. Cubs win 10,000 games. Guess which team is the only one with more wins....g'head, I dare you.

  12. Seriously, what in the hell is wrong with Barry Zito?
  13. That's really amazing. But it must suck to know that the season highlight happened on April 8. We shall see, Dan-O.
  14. Hey, Molina puts one in the left field seats for a walk-off HR! Giants win! Giants win! Giants win! A one game winning streak....BOO-Ya!
  15. Verlander looked pretty good tonight. The ChiSox looked better. Hey....still early in the season.
  16. "Not until they pry it from my cold, dead hands." Hm. Seems to me this is the NRS's big giant chance to try that theory out, eh? The bastards. No love lost here and may God bless the innocent victims of gun violence.
  17. They'll be back 162 game season.
  18. NEW HUSBAND STORE A store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City , where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates: * You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! * There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. * The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building. So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads: Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs. She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads: Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.'That's nice,' she thinks, 'but I want more.' So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads: Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking. 'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads: Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework. 'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!' Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads: Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign reads: Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. PLEASE NOTE: To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opened a New Wives store just across the street. The first floor has wives that love sex. The second floor has wives that love sex and have money and like beer. The third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors have never been visited.
  19. Good news is Pads beat the Dodgers, 4-1
  20. Brewers defeat Giants again today (5 -4). Brewers now 4 - 1. No surprises here. The Brew-ha's are legit. Although with two errors, the were doing their damnedest to give the game away to the Giants.
  21. I wonder why people who do not have a vested interest in the sale of metal razor handles diss the disposables. I went to disposables only after the razor companies kept phasing out razors I had purchased just to get me to buy another over priced blade. I figured who needs the aggravation? So I buy disposable blades.
  22. I think you mean disposable razors. And you're right -- I remember Bic coming out with them around 1968 or '69. Correct on both counts.... thanks
  23. Giants got whapped today by the Brew-ha's, 13-4. Sanchez gets roughed up for 7 Runs in only 4IP. Hennessy comes out of the bullpen to give up 5 more runs and now has an ERA of 37.80
  24. You should see the seagulls at ATT Park in SF after a game. Yike!
