Actually, that would be quite enjoyable to see. They're the character/narrative teams this year, while NY and Philadelphia are the behemoths. Kind of weird that after 100+ years of sucking Philly is now considered a behemoth after only 4 straight years of playoffs, but whatever. I guess from a purely "fan of the game" point of view a Texas/SF match up would be interesting. Although I think the TV ratings will take a huge hit. Dang, I was so looking forward to a rematch w/ the good team from NYC this October. Alas. Even during the Pete Rose/Mike Schmidt years? Philly is just plain stacked and consistently good. Behemoth is how I would describe them, too.

HEY! How 'BOUT that Cody Ross!?! Yes. Yes it is

Exactly. A Rangers version of The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Halladay vs. Lincecum in three hours. Let the Torture begin.

I agree. Nothing but the most bland, vanilla, broadcasters on Television now, Cosell wouldn't get with ten miles of a network microphone nowadays. And thank God, too Marv Albert and Dick Vitale wouldn't be far behind if I had my way. OTOH, Jon Miller, Vin Scully, Mike Costas, Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow are anything but vanilla.

Mid-90s up my way in the San Joaquin Valley. By now, we would have had our first fog of the season. This stuff sucks.
-
I'm pretty OK with that And not just because my guys would be there. It would be a good match-up, IMHO.

Evil talk.

2010 Giants Theme Song, well...sorta.
-
Thanks. I just hope my guys can hang in against a tough Phillies ballclub.

Giants WIN!!! DEATH to the racist Braves chop!!!
-
With Lowe on three days rest and the rookie MadBum for the Giants, it will make an interesting dynamic. With any luck, the rook will prevail.
-
Maybe. Like I said before, the Phillies are stacked. Definitely the team to beat.
-
The Braves lead the league in errors, Guys.
-
The Giants win in spite of Sergio Romo. Who got the win...after giving the Braves the lead? How is that even possible? Statistics are crap. What is even more amazing is why would Bochy put him in when he helped lose the game on Friday? Lowe on three days rest against the MadBum tomorrow. So, we wait and see.
-
We will see. After Friday's bullpen meltdown, the season may be over for my Gigantes. Sandoval's bonehead errors sealed the deal. But, idiot fan that I am, I'll be there for my guys until the last dog dies. Kinda like a train wreck: Ya gotta watch. Enduring the Torture since 1965. May the Baseball Gods have mercy on my pathetic soul.

I really think the Giants, with their pitching and improved offense, have a great chance of going all the way. Brian Wilson needs to be a little bit more steady, or maybe pitch less five out saves, Bochy might be over pitching Wilson. Still, I've like the Giants from the start, and I don't see any reason to change at this point. Giants in the World Series. I never like Bochy's strategy of having Wilson pitch the 8th, and it didn't work tonight. Have to give the Braves there due though, they fought back, and Ankel just crushed the game winner into McCovey's Cove. Best of three series now. 48 saves....except when it matters. Wilson couldn't save my lunch.

Yes. Of the three blown calls yesterday (the other two resulting in managers getting tossed in the two ALDS games), that was the only one that really had an impact on the possible outcome of the game. Posey was out. He pretty much admitted it after the game. Without that run, it's 0-0 after 9. From ESPN.... In Thursday's National League Division Series opener between San Francisco and Atlanta, Giants catcher Buster Posey was credited with a stolen base when replays showed he appeared to be tagged out. Posey later scored the lone run in the Giants' 1-0 win over the Braves. "I guess it's a good thing we don't have instant replay right now," Posey told reporters after the game. Yeah, but I don't hear any complaints from the Braves fans about the phantom strike zone which, on at least two occassions, allowed a third strike to be called a ball and runners got on base. Posey was on 2nd and with two out. The Braves didn't close out the inning. E-5. Giants have been getting screwed by the umps all season long. Finally, we catch a break.

Barry Zito is a head case. I am all for keeping him as far away from the pitcher's mound as is humanly possible. The MadBum delivers. Zito plays mind games.
-
Neither. Fear the Beard

Good chance, Matthew. The Phillies, however, will just wipe the floor with the Reds. Go Giants!!!
-
Dodger fan, right?

Friday: Cain chokes up three [count 'em], THREE HRs, fer crissakes! Giants lose. Saturday: Barry "Headcase" Zito walks in not one, but TWO runs...in October? How is that even possible? I can't WAIT until his contract is up. He's worthless. Giants lose. Sunday: Latos, the Padres stud muffin, is on the mound. The Giants will crap out on this one, too. You watch. Giants lose again. Monday: Tie-breaker, and in San Diego. Perfect. Just shoot me now. Go Phillies, goddamit! They are the Giants only hope to make it in as the NL Wildcard. To say I am pissed would be a GROSS understatement. All that work for nothing. GRRRRRR!!! Sanchez is going for the Giants. Gosh, you never know what you're going to get when he's on the mound -- he can be light outs, or gone by the bottom of the second, he's the Sybil of the staff. Bochy better have that bullpen warming up from the first pitch. It would be a huge bummer if the Giants don't even make the playoffs, what a crazy final weekend for the NL. Gosh? Puh-lease. Giants will lose. I mean, any team which PHs Jose "I can't hit my hat size" Guillen in a two man on, two out situation isn't going anywhere. Padres win the NL West. And if there is ANY justice in the world, the undeserving Brav-o's will succumb to the Phils and the Giants will at least squeak in as the WC. GRRRRR!!!
