I think that If I were going to recommend one Blind Willie McTell compilation to someone who had no McTell, that one would be it.

There are some good sides on Decca that aren't included on those, but unless you're a McTell completist, you have the best of his early sides covered.

Out for a half hour walk this morning - cut short by snow starting to fall and walkways getting slippery. On my iPod shuffle: Early Gene Ammons (he was a pretty good blues ballad singer); Takacs Quartet: Beethoven; Ellington: Such Sweet Thunder; Messiaen; Son House.
