  1. I don't think you'd lose that wager.
  2. I enjoyed Small Time Crooks. The Jane Austin Book Club was more or less (a lot more than less) a chick-lit film, but ok for what it was.
  3. Al Haig Meets the Master Saxes Volume One (Spotlite)
  4. Henry "Red" Allen and his New York Orchestra 1919 - 1930 (JSP)
  5. Some of my favorite KD
  6. Charlie Rouse: Unsung Hero
  7. I have a copy of The Studio Museum catalog of The Sound I Saw. It's Plate 7 in that catalog.
  8. Slings and Arrows - Season 3 The finale of a wonderful series. It was impressive (and somewhat frightening) to see William Hutt in several scenes not just play the role of, but to actually become, King Lear.
  9. Jimmy Smith's House Party
  10. Johnny Cash Eddie Money Buck Owens
  11. I've read that it's "Gator Tail" or Sam "The Man". If someone has an Atlantic discography, that might help settle the issue.
  12. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/09/magazine/the-intimacy-behind-jazzs-seminal-image.html?_r=0 I'm not a fan of Geoff Dyer's writing (although I am a big fan of Roy DeCarava's photographs), and I don't agree with or buy into everything in this article - including the title - I think that it's worth reading and that certain points in it are worth thinking about.
  13. Phil Rizzuto Pee Wee Reese Johnny Pesky
  14. Jimmy Forrest: Night Train (Delmark)
  15. I've never heard this one, but it would seem to be another addition to the George Duvivier thread.
  16. AEC: Live in Berlin (West Wind) Not the cover on my copy. I couldn't find an image of mine. Found this image also, but different from my copy. I don't know if this is a legit release, but it's some of the best live Art Ensemble that I've heard.
  17. Art Pepper: "Smack Up"
  18. The Duke Ellington Small Bands - The Intimacy of the Blues
  19. A lot of good listening going on this morning.
