  9. I'm working on that. Seems like I've been doing that for years.

  11. If you've already bought them twice, don't do it again. Let the record companies release some new music for a change.

  17. That was the CD version. I was talking about the 2 LP version that was issued sometime in the 70's - can't remember the year.
  18. Well, the intent of this series is to recreate the lps themselves. So yes, there is more material on both of those releases. I have experience with these albums as lps before the cds and as a result I enjoy listening to them in lp format. I'll liklely listen to these versions more often from here on out. That's because the sonic improvement is imo not subtle over the earlier cds. Iirc, Live in Japan was issued on LP in the U.S. in some sort of phoney stereo. Japanese Impulse issued two 2LP sets of the concerts in mono, which is how they were recorded. If I'm mistaken, someone can correct me.

  20. Perhaps apropos of nothing, but perhaps interesting in this context: "Bernie was talking about Sonny Stitt's alto on "That's Earl, Brother." As good as Bird, he said. Arnie said, bullshit: he was a very hip young man from Washington Heights, wore mirrored sunglasses. A bop drummer in his senior year at the High School of Performing Arts." 21. It's still today here, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  22. Aticle in the NY Times on Bridge Records I'm no expert - I only have two recordings on Bridge - an Ives violin/piano sonatas and a Cecil Taylor/Matt Maneri - but those two are good ones and they seem to do worthwhile things.
  23. Listened to Have No Fear Today. I've been listening to this music for over thirty years and heard things today that I hadn't before. That may say something about my listening over the years, but I believe that it also says much about the music.
  24. Robert Richard: Banty Rooster Blues (Barrelhouse)
