  1. No, it's the same 24 tracks, just spread over 3 volumes.
  2. I picked this up, which I never knew existed: His first album as a leader!
  3. November 29: Billy Strayhorn, piano, composer, arranger, 1915 Ed Bickert, guitar, 1932 Tony Coe, tenor sax, clarinet, 1934
  4. I think they bring a healthy dose of silliness. I vote to leave as is.
  5. Please let us know your thoughts about the sound quality, oh mp3 newbie.
  6. It probably saved it to your Downloads folder. Do a search of your hard drive for one of the song titles.
  7. An Amazon reseller has this now for $37.71.
  8. They have the new Sade album, "Soldier of Love," for $1.99. And they have lots of classic Blue Note albums for $3.68.
  9. November 28: George Wettling, drums, 1907 Gato Barbieri, tenor sax, 1934
  10. November 27: Eddie South, violin, 1904 Randy Brecker, trumpet, 1945
  11. Congratulations! Shoot for the bliss, man.
  12. IIRC, the OJCs state that the Period masters were purchased by Fantasy. However, lately, these same tracks have been reissued by Essential Media Group:
  13. Interesting that "The More I See You" wasn't included in either of the OJC discs. Neither was the 2/28/54 session (from John L's post). My guess is the Oscar Pettiford Sextet disc (from Brownie's post) contains the following tracks: East Lag, Marcel The Furrier, Rhumblues, Stardust, Ondine, and Burt's Pad. Any info on the Duke Jordan tracks (Just One Of Those Things, Embraceable You, Minor Escamp aka Jordu, Scotch Blues, Confirmation, recorded 1/28/54)?
  14. I have the two volumes of The Birdlanders on OJC. How were these originally released? Were they under Henri Renaud's name? Does anyone have cover scans and track listings?
  15. November 26: (I kid you not) Henry Hot Lips Levine, trumpet, 1907
  16. Downloading my first title now: Grant Green - His Majesty King Funk/Donald Byrd - Up! First track is at 227 kbps (VBR). Says it's encoded with Fraunhofer, which some on the eMusic board think is inferior. I have no idea if that's a valid concern.
  17. But I'm not entirely clear about how purchasing works. If I have $6.49 and something costs more, do I need to buy a booster pack? Also, if I haven't spent $0.50 or more, do I lose that at the end of the month? Uh oh...it looks like they're now using lower bit rates; see Message board. This might be it for me.
  18. I'm seeing a lot of interesting things there, some at really good prices. True, it's not like the old days, but we can't live in the past. The Duke Ellington Reprise Mosaic for $26, anyone? eMusic Conlon Nancarrow - Complete Studies for Player Piano, $22.27: eMusic - Nancarrow
  19. I've had this for a few years. Good overview of her work.
  20. Staples is advertising for Black Friday a Western Digital 2 TB EHD for $99. I believe this comes with backup software. It seems like a great deal; 2 TB will last you a long time.
  21. November 25: Paul Desmond, alto sax, 1924 Etta Jones, singer, 1928 Nat Adderley, cornet, trumpet, composer, 1931
  22. Which albums would this contain?
  23. It's creepy to have a hard drive fail on you, because it has all your data on it. If the EHD is only a month old, of course you're going to return it. But there's a lingering question: could someone else get it to work and then have all your data? And you'll never know.
  24. Thanks for thinking of us. Note that the coupon is for "Any One Item 50% off list price."
  25. November 24: Teddy Wilson, piano, 1912 Serge Chaloff, baritone sax, 1923
