  1. If the Cardinals had won last night, you would have to name Adam Craig the frontrunner for MVP. Amazing! I guess it still could happen if he does well in Texas. Now I guess if Hamilton does well, he could be under consideration.
  2. I think you hit the nail on the head. Riggleman for DC, mentored by LaRussa, used to do quite a lot of that with his "patented" double-switches. He took a beating for that in the DC blog world. Rangers' infield defense was a pleasure to watch. And I am still impressed by Andrus for not stepping on Carpenter at first base in Game One. The more I see this guy the more I like him. Maybe next season it won't be NY-Boston on tv 90% of the time like it seemed this year.
  3. Hope nobody gets hurt! That play by Carpenter at first base could have been disastrous! Professional job by Andrus to miss him. Cardinals in 5 (because their 'pen won't be able to last 7!)
  4. 2006 Onion article: http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/cardinals-apologize-for-winning-world-series,2079/
  5. Raga and other stuff from Robbie Basho, John Fahey.
  6. Killer 3rd inning! That might be it for Detroit. (edit: I wrote that when it was 7-2. It's now 9-2!)
  7. Oh, come on! I believe Arizona kept its dome closed too for both games in Phoenix & it wasn't that warm outside. Anyway, go Brewers!! Well, I was thinking about the WHOLE SEASON of Brewers using their roof that way and ending up with (surprise, surprise) an unbelievably good home record. What should the competing teams do to even it out? All build enclosed stadiums that they rig for home field advantage? I stick with my criticism of the Milwaukee team. It's a rare year I will not root for the NL team in the World Series, but not this year if it's Milwaukee. As much as I like the city and its friendly people! Philadelphia and St Louis had much better road records, and I like that.
  8. Mighty time in Dallas! Walk off home run in the eleventh. Tough on the Tigers.
  9. Sorry for Ryan Howard getting hurt on the last out! Great win for St Louis! What a game for Carpenter! 1-0.
  10. This looks bad for St Louis, leaving the bases loaded with one out and not getting anyone in.
  11. Definitely DID NOT WANT Morgan to knock in the winning run. Could not stand him with the Nationals. Wild pitch did Putz in by putting the winning run on second base. BUT, congratulations to Brewers fans! Next game, St. Louis and Philadelphia.
  12. Craig Counsell at bat for Milwaukee? Good player, but this guy must be the Forrest Gump of MLB! Shows up at an incredible number of the important moments.
  13. 9th inning! It's either tie, go ahead, or go home! (I really dislike the way Milwaukee uses its roof. They close it up even when unnecessary in order to raise the sound level and create a home field advantage. Not the way Houston uses its roof because of the heat and humidity.)
  14. Nail biter in NY in the 7th and 8th innings! Now bottom of the 9th! Last out swing and miss by ARod! Tigers win!!! Good season, Yankee fans. Lots of good baseball and memorable milestones for Jeter and Rivera. Hoping for Cardinals to eliminate Phil tomorrow.
  15. Knock him out, John!
  16. Game 5 match up between St Louis and Philadelphia will feature Carpenter and Halladay. I bet it's higher scoring than the pitchers' duel we would anticipate. Soon be moving to 7 game series. I wish they were 5 games long, or they cut the regular season by 10 games so they could finish before All Saints Day!
  17. TB Rays. Too bad? Tuberculosis? Congratulations Dallas.
  18. Spicy Cajun or Zydeco. A gumbo of musical influences.
  19. Oh well. Lot of good pitching by the young Rays starter in Arlington. Rangers can catch up tomorrow!
  20. One trillion plusses to you for this totally right message, as far as I am concerned. Lose the chance to go to the first of 3 rounds of baseball tournament going into October and even November? MLB must be kidding me!
  21. I would like to see a team that has come close but didn't quite make it, like the Rangers or Rays. Brewers would be interesting. How many teams have switched leagues and gone to the Series in both? Winning for the NL would make it hard to move them back to the AL. But overall I think they should be returned to the AL. Moving them to the NL is partly the reason for the imbalance.
  22. Thanks for posting this!
  23. Too bad, Braves and Red Sox fans! The match ups I want to watch are all in the first round. Arizona-Milwaukee, and Texas-Tampa. After that, I won't be too interested.
  24. What's so great about seeing sudden death games involving teams that are not playing well? I would rather not see a team back into the playoffs despite sucking for the last month of the season.
