Encouraging exclamations on jazz or blues records

Brownie McGhee to Sonny Terry on Down by the Riverside: "How do you feel about it, buddy?" Brownie McGhee to Sonny Terry on Walk On: "Let's walk together now!" -

Orson Bean mentioned Dylan and folk rock, so I doubt this clip could have been before 65. In 64 Dylan wasn't electrified yet, I thought. At least not at Newport. -
The Washington Nationals are slightly ahead of where I expected them to be. Werth, LaRoche, and Ankiel are the biggest disappointments in the field, Burnett in the bullpen. But Espinosa, Morse, and Nix are exceeding expectations. Just hope we haven't burned out our bullpen too much. This week will be a much needed break. I think we will end up about 4 games below .500.

Cajun great from the 60s-70s Doris Matte, J'aimerais danser avec toi. He could really sing in that Belton Richard style. Sounds like the melody Dewey Balfa copped for his song J'ai pleurer.

Memphis Slim did some work on harpsichord. Ain't Nothing but a Texas Boogie on a Harpsichord, from the album Southside Reunion. Buddy Guy and A.C. Reed are on this one.

I thought his documentary on World War II was well done. Will never surpass World at War, but it had a different focus altogether. It was seriously off the mark by not including country music, especially in its coverage of Mobile, and the fact that charging Japanese waves shouted to hell with Roy Acuff.

Don't put much stock in the All Star team selections, but glad to see Tyler Clippard of the Nationals on board, which is not common for set up relievers. Danny Espinosa'a BA is not the best but he is the sluggingest second baseman in the NL (majors?) this year and probably the Gold Glove winner and really should be on the All Stars, IMO.

Great quote from Durocher! True too. First Columbian District win for the Davey Johnson regime, at home 2-1 over Pirates. First walk off winning hit for Matt Stairs, who has been a terrible disappointment this season overall. Excited about going to a true double header tomorrow (single admission, no clearing out the stadium between games!).

It's like I have always said. What this country needs is more Rice.

14-inning win against the White Sox last night, and an ejection for new manager McLaren! Washington sports talk is buzzing with news about Davy Johnson.

Peter Falk, 1927-2011

He had a classic scene in It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. Sid Caesar wants to use the pay phone he's ranting on when he finally gets out of the hardware store with Edie Adams. He's on a pay phone ranting: "The police in this town are retarded! I'm dealing with moronic people!" -

Serpentine!!! -
Not surprising. Can't blame Riggleman at all. The GM would not even agree to begin discussing an extension. A manager with a one year contract is really in a bind. These are not the days of Walter Alston anymore. I wish him well. He served baseball in Washington very well, in my opinion.

Try this. At the top click View then Toolbars. Check Menu Bar if it is not checked. I have these checked: Menu Bar, Navigation Toolbar, Bookmarks Toolbar. -
Sweep the Cardinals, vacate last place (that's the Marlins), and talk smack to Baltimore coming into town for our inter-league series. What a night! Columbian District on an upswing for a rare moment!
-
Cards gotta be wondering wtf. 8-0 Nationals in the 7th inning. Would love to see a series win, then some momentum going into our weekend series with Baltimore.
-
Fun at the game last night! Got to see Pujols hit a rocket home run, but the Nationals later rallied with 6 in the seventh inning to win 8-6 with Clippard pitching the 8th and Storen the 9th. An energized crowd for a team in the cellar. 4 wins in a row is news for the Nationals.

Before I got a cell phone just a few years ago, a co-worker used to try to shame me into getting one. Said even the homeless had cell phones. Well, of course. Where would they put a landline, Sherlock? I hate it when people try to shame you about your rate of technology adoption. Bad taste. -
The team of your childhood
Neal Pomea replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Just adding that I switched allegiance to the Washington Nationals in 2005, and that turned out to be the very year, the only year the Astros went to the World Series! They were swept in 4 games by the White Sox, but it was a great series with each game possibly going either way. -
Consider the odds of a Baltimore-Washington World Series ever happening!

I rooted for the Houston Colt 45s/Astros from their inception until 2005 when Washington got the Expos franchise. Now I am on the ground floor with this team. -
Agreed! It took about 3 hours to upload my 20 GB to the Amazon Cloud. I let Amazon select the music just to see what it would do. Now I am going through and deleting what I don't want on the Cloud, or the stuff that it took from my hard drive and for which it had no indexing information. (I have digitized a lot of my lp and 45 collection over the years, then when I put some of that stuff on iTunes I took pains to index it all very carefully. But AC took not only iTune, indexed songs but also "unindexed" songs from folders other than iTunes. Now it's a pain to sort and I don't see any way to edit song titles, etc.) I would call this a product in Beta.

Anyone trying this? Comments on your experience? I am giving this a try. You start with a measly 20 GB free then have to pay some more for additional space. I will use it to put music on my Motorola (Droid) phone and hopefully play that back in my car. Right now I think Apple and Amazon are in competition. They'll have to guard their cloud warehouses like Fort Knox! Don't know if this computing centralized who knows where is really a good idea. Maybe for music files and that's all.

Thanks for the history, Jeff!
