The one time I heard Albert Ayler play live, it was with this band (Junie Booth replacing Alan Silva) in the spring of 1968. As I recall, they played some of the tunes from this album, but as medleys, rather than individual tunes. To my ears, that was more effective, but I guess Impulse decided that the record would be more commercial if the tunes were separated.

Amazing. It must've been extraordinary. Love that record.

Same, on all counts, "Universal Indians" in particular...the vocal, so direct, so obvious, as to be scary unless taken totally "as is", and then,,,it's all good then. But not until!

The Braff I've loved since it first came out. I believe that's Ruby's mother with him on the cover.

Hard to find. I purchased it around 1978 and since then I´ve been very impressed by this, Sonny Rollins with Don Cherry, Henry Grimes and Billy Higgins. Then in 1978 I was much into 60´s "new thing" "avantgarde" and purchased it for the participation of Don Cherry and Billy Higgins. Sonny is fantastic on this. An Henry Grimes is one of the true masters on bass.

It is a beautiful album. With Coleman  Hawkins as a bonus.
