Son-of-a-Weizen Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I think I'd like to pick up the Trio-San 'BeBop' cd listed on this Venus site....but am wondering about that TKGV catalogue number. The Venus cds I've purchased in the past -- jewel box or mini-lp -- all have a TKCV designation. My guess is that it's not vinyl or it'd show up as TKJV....but perhaps they've changed things a bit and it's a new vinyl line. My jewel box copy of the Hazeltine 'ALice in Wonderland' is a TKCV...yet the Venus site also has it listed as TKGV. Hard to imagine a series of typos on their own site...but anything's possible. Anyone picked up that Trio-San ? http://www.venusrecord.com/recent/index.html Quote
brownie Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Weizen, confirm that these are Venus LP releases. I have seen these at the Paris Virgin store at €33 and some each (around $40). Quote
Eric Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 perhaps this is what Lewis Carroll originally had in mind Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 If you ever get up near Hartford, CT, Integrity 'N Music has most Venus CDs for around $25, which I think is a pretty good price. I wish these CDs (and especially SACDs) weren't so damned expensive. I'd own a hell of a lot more of them. BTW, anyone who digs Venus in general and hard bop specifically must get their hands on One For All's "No Problem". It is simply fantastic. One of the best this year. Too bad many of it's biggest fans will never hear it. Later, Kevin Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted August 23, 2004 Author Report Posted August 23, 2004 Finally got this one. Very enjoyable....nice version of 'Filthy McNasty'.....and a bass player who cooks big time on 'Be Bop". The folks at Venus keep on delivering great music! Quote

Totally loving my first and only Venus title as I type, Maybern: Don't Know Why. The piano sound they get is wonderful. It's like I'm 10-15 feet behind him. Mesmerizing!! Hopefully, I'll have more soon. Any favs among the following? Dmitry Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Moffett, Charles "Magic Of Love" Actually it's The Moffett Family Jazz Band. Yes, it's *that* Moffett family; with Ornette and Sonny Simmons connections. Pretty neat music. Perhaps I'll include a cut on my bft disk. So the Venus vinyl releases are in good sound, looks like. I only have this one cd. Quote
