ghost of miles Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 A tribute to past & present Chicago jazz masters, including two cuts from the new Von Freeman CD THE GREAT DIVIDE and music from Dinah Washington, Ira Sullivan, Sun Ra, Bill Henderson, and the Vandermark 5, plus (of course) Clifford Jordan and John Gilmore. Also included: "Faces in the Jazzmatazz," Ken Nordine's ode to Chicago jazz haunts. Periodic & additional chapters to come, since Chicago can't possibly be covered in one one-hour segment. 11:10 tonight (9:10 California, 12:10 East Coast) on WFIU. Quote

Bright Moments Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 (edited) i listened to "Blowin' In From Chicago" this afternoon! What a great cd. I'd nominate this one for a "RVG" B) btw- does anyone know if there is some sort of program that would allow my computer to record something like this on-line radio show so that i could listen to it later? Chuck Nessa Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 This reminds me of Terry Martin's fine piece in Down Beat in 1967(?) called Blowin' Out in Chicago. The piece was about Roscoe Mitchell. Quote

Dan Gould Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 btw- does anyone know if there is some sort of program that would allow my computer to record something like this on-line radio show so that i could listen to it later? Evan, You need an audio program like Goldwave (I recently downloaded the newest version and its very good, and its only about $40 and that gets you all future upgrades, too) http://www.goldwave.com Then, you need the kind of sound card that can handle two different audio sources simultaneously, and then you can just run the audio from the speaker plugs into the line in plug, and, as Kelly Bundy would say, viola! ejp626 Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 TotalRecorder also seems to work pretty well. I am considering upgrading to one that is geared more to recording webstreaming. Quote
